Can someone walk me through the right steps to control Serato 2.0 new effects with Novation Nocturn w/Automap 3.0. I searched the form but I found a vague description ofhow to do it. I also did not understan what was meant by make sure settings for knobs are to 1 and buttons are to 0(?).
Last, is that true Serato doesnt have a midi out so my lights on the nocturn wont light up?

Okay I figured midi assingning, err so annoying, I know I cant be the only one with this Novation Nocturn doing this. Automap sucks with Serato but whatever. Once you figure out the nerdiness of programming Midi on the Serato and labeling things like wise on the Automap its not that bad, you will just turn into a nerdy tweaker for awhile.
Okay I finished some cool midi layouts. I saved my Midi settings in Serato. I see the xml file in the music folder>scratchlive folder>midi folder. I have opened Serato and loaded up the midi file that I saved. Does not work. I closed serato. I tried opening up the xml file with serato. This did not work.
So now I know how to do midi mapping on my novation nocturn but I dont know how to recall it next time I boot up Serato. Sad.

Okay scratch that. I figured out how to recall my settings. Not sure how but I clicked on the file in Midi like 10 times with anger. Then got out of the setup mode. Ran my mouse over to one of the FX parameters then thought okay let me try it with my Novation Nocturn now 1 more time before I go to sleep crying, and it worked!

Actually I shut it down again. I reloaded serato for another try and it did not work. I loaded the file in midi. I tried with my bocturn on and then off when booting up serato. I also booted serato from then xml file. This sucks.

We have had very poor results with Novation products in here. We had the Nocturn hoping it would be the answer to midi mapping for video Sl..... I wanted to toss it out the window after 20 minutes. Mainly for similar reasons, never remembered the mappings although the channels are still assigned, odd page problems and a few other things. It got put on the shelf and has gathered dust ever since.
I personally like Akai products. They seem to be reliable and very easy to map.

Actually last night I got a break through. Its all about the "User" button on the damn Nocturn. You need to do all the assigning in Serato. You can have automap on but you not really using 'automap" per se. When you turn automap on make sure the "User" button on the Nocturn is pushed and lit up. This will turn all the controls into CC's and on the autmap gui you will see it change to 'Ccs". Do the midi assignment one by one on Serato. Just click midi button on serato and then click the control and then hit whatever control on the Nocturn you want it assigned to. After your complet save your settings in Serato and save settings in Nocturn(this only necessary if you typed in actuall names instead of it displaying a cc# and necessary for button adjustments like toggle,step,etc.).
When you go to reboot the system for another day just start up automap first. Open the file you saved in Automap. Open Serato. Load serato midi settings if not automatically loaded. Press the "user button" and it will either change the Nocturn Gui screen to the appropiate settings or give you a screen that allows you to pick the appropiate settings.
I wasted alot of time on this and as an act of humanity I will make a youtube video for lifes not to be wasted on this planet by going down the dark midi path I went on. I expect Rane to give me a complimentary TTM56(hey at least I am not asking for the 57SL) and Novation to give me a Nocturn 49 for my support of their marriage and promotion of their family.

lol, I like that idea ;)
Thanks for taking the time to come back and post the results you got and how you got there. I'm sure that it can save some poor soul in the future hours of frustration. i know I could have beneffitted from it. double lols. As it stands, from our perspective, you have to do to much to get this thing to work proper. We moved onto looking for other models that were more plug and play.
Once you got it mapped though, the controller worked fairly well.

Yeah actually its not bad at all and it works well. Its really simple to setup once you get all the confusion out of the way.
