Hello Support Team.
Firstly I want to excuse me in advance for my bad english...
My Problem are jerky / shivering waveforms when running SSL.
I run a MacBookPro (current version) with 2x2,4 GHZ Intel Core Duo / 2 Gig Ram / 250 GB Hdd. My library is approximately 40 gb. First I runned SSL 1.7.4 and had shivering waveforms. Then the german forum advised me to update to the newest version. Now I am running 1.9.1. (no Beta Version) The jerky waveforms remained appearing...
The problem is still there when Rane Hardware (SL1) is disconnected.
Using the setup functions is ineffective. Every setting is the same: Shivering waveforms.
Taking out the battery is helpless just as deactivating airport and/or bluetooth.
I have had no USB dropout since installing SSL, the files are not corrupt and changing latency audio cache, etc. is eneffective, too!
What can I do?
The other Forum-Users already reviled me... Please help!!!

Hello Pior,
I'm going to assume your talking about the very slight glitch in the wave display every 3 or 4 seconds?
If so then, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it.
Its just how it is on a Mac.
I personally didn't even notice it until someone pointed it out to me and even then its not bothersome to me.
You do want to make sure your 'maximum screen updates' are set to 60 in the display settings in setup but even that won't fix the slight glitch I'm talking about.

Exactly this is what i mean. Hmm... Then some of the german colleagues really told the truth... Can we expect an update or something that can fix that in future or is this hopeless??

I've been told that it can be fixed but its going to be very difficult and expensive.
I'm sorry to say but at this time I don't believe its a high priority.

Hi Pior_187, do you use VSL?
I have the same issue, which goes away if you UN-TICK the v-sync option in the setup screen of vsl. You get some 'tearing' in the video output, but the audio/video lag is improved and the SSL screen runs smooth(er). It improves a little more if you set your external display to NTSC, if it isn't already.
In this case, it's the way that the mac handles the v-sync signal from serato with it's nvidia video card, and i am led to believe will hopefully be addressed in the next release of VSL. (This will not be for a while though apparently.)
If you don't use vsl, then i have no other ideas, sorry!
Zach .. is there a fund we can donate to, to get the shivering screen resolved once and for all?! It's been rearing it's head in one way or another for years now, and bugs the wotsits out of several of us! Can we kill it .... pppplease ??!!!

Thanks a lot for your tip!!
But I am not using Video-SL (I assume that you mean this by VSL). So I think that I don`t the v-sync option...
Those jerky wavefomrs are quite bothersome to me!!
My colleague advised me to sell the MBP and buy an ordinary (smaller) MB 13" (the same as he has got) - same interior as my Pro-Version, EXCEPT the second Nvidia Video-Card 9600 M GT (his MB does not have that). The waveforms of my colleague are running very clean and not jerky as mine... he has the same settings and almost the same MB...
Zach, do you know if the problem appears because of trouble with the Nvidea Cards???
Can I fix the problem by changing my MacBookPro to the smaller MacBook which has only onboard Graphic or would that be pointless, too?
Thanks for your help!!

I have an older generation Macbook 2.0 gig with an Intel GMA 950 and I experience this glitch so I don't think this is a graphics card issue.
As far as I know, all Macbooks and Macbook Pros have this issue.

Surely thats a huge proportion of your customer base ? Although expensive to fix, it has to be worth it to get a "glitch free" application for your users?

If it was an issue everyone was complaining about then it would turn into a high priority.
That is how things work in our companies.
At this time, its not something that most people are concerned with.
I, personally, would rather see the developers putting time into 3 deck support, auto sync, better library management, and effects.
If this is a top priority for you guys I would suggest posting in the feature suggestions section and make some noise.
That is where the developers will go to update their priority list.

Fair enough, and point well made, thank-you Zach.
Auto sync ... please tell me you don't mean auto beat-match ?!
