So right now i have a laptop by e-machines running my Serato...however its been giving me a couple problems & its not allowing me to use the BPM utility. A friend suggested that i invest in a mac, since i guess Serato works better with Mac i'm thinkin bout get one, Im wondering tho what might be the best mac to go with & if a air might be a good choice?

Don't get an Air, get a regular Macbook, or if you have the money, a Macbook Pro.

Hi DJJAMZ,

I agree with Konix ^

why do you say that...are there certian things i should be looking for?

Air's only have 1 USB port, and no firewire. So if you ever plan on using an external drive, you can't. Can't use USB hubs either with SSL as that will cause problems.

Besides the "cool" factor of the Air, you'll get much usability and functionality from a regular Macbook or Pro. That and a regular Macbook is cheaper, and you''ll get a lot more out of it.

Just want to point out that the new Macbooks don't have firewire anymore. That connection is now only found on the MacBook Pro. Try to find a previous generation MacBook, they do have firewire.
Ofcourse only if you want to use an external drive ...

thats the thing i do have an external drive with me now...but i also heard with the air that you can buy USB addappters for them. & would my external hard drive be compatible with the mac or will i have to do some conversions. & since i'm on a budget getting a used one wouldn't really do any harm i'd just have to look for one of an older generation like you mentioned right?

I do think that switching to a MAC simply because you can not get your BPM utility to run is a little extreme, and costly. Why not try a few more utilities, trouble shoot the issues your having, rather then spend thousands of dollars for a new machine?

I use PCs and Macs, and gotta tell you, MACs are over-rated... There will be away to fix your issue, look into that more.

I have to agree with djtrippin. Try to troubleshoot your problem before dumping a whole lot of money into a new machine. If you buy the new machine and you have the same issue then you will probably be very angry and dissapointed.
