I run a powerbook and switch back from 1.8 and 1.7...

I have a few songs that seem to constantly and consistently duplicate themselves after shut down an restart in SSL..

For example..
Outkast- Bombs Over Baghdad... Every time I play it, then shut down SSL, the next time I reopen SSL, I always end up having Outkast Bombs Over Bagdhad twice in my SSL. Both instances of the MP3 work, but the original version hase my cue points and loops, but the duplicate doesnt. My SSL seems to do this a lot, but its always with the same songs.. Is this a ID tag issue? Can someone point me in the right direction please

thanks

just to add some more info... the duplicate mp3 shows up in SSL, but not in iTunes..
and I've noticed the duplicate MP3 in SSL does not have the little CD icon (iTunes icon?) next to it...

Hello Togtfo,

Open SSL, click on the 'all' section, and click on the little gray triangle in the little black box directly above the gray scroll bar on the far right side of the main library window.
Create a 'location' column.

Are the tracks coming from different locations?

Hey Zach, i did what you told me to do... it seems as though, the locations are the "same", but one file would be under the "Bounty Killer" directory and the other track would be in the "bounty killer" directory... One is capitalized and the other isn't. Does this mean I have 2 copies of the file? or is this a glitch? I'm not going to start deleting tracks untill I hear back from you tho. Thank you very much for the respons Zach S

I think this is a glitch.

If you look in those paths do you have a 'Bounty Killer' folder and a 'bounty killer' folder?

If so, please upload your databaseV2 file located in the ScratchLIVE folder on your internal drive here --> scratchlive.net with a link to this thread.

What version do you currently have on your computer?

Hi Zach.

I checked the paths and I only have one instance of "Bounty Killer" and only one instance of the song.

I also just notices I have two "database v2" files... on is located in my "ScratchLIVE" folder and the other one is from the "ScratchLIVEbackup" folder. I sent the one from the "ScratchLIVE" folder

Cool.. I'm getting the Serato guys involved in this thread.
Can you please post a couple more screen shots?

Highlight each file and hold down apple+r.
That will open up a browser with the song highlighted in its location.

Make sure your in column mode and take a picture so we can see the hierarchy of where that file lives.

Thanks for the pics.

Try this:

Shut down SSL.

Open the ScratchLIVE folder on your internal drive and rename the databaseV2 file to databaseV2C.

Now open SSL and see if the duplicate file still exists.

Let us know your findings.

I did what you told me to do, and when i reopened SSL, it re-read my ID3 tags and seems to have fixed the problem. The duplicate songs are gone from my SSL, but I am not sure if the actual creation of the duplicate problem is fixed, since the songs dont duplicate until I shutdown and restart SSL. Let me play around with it for a week and see if any new songs get duplicated.

Thanks again for all of your help, you guys have been great. I will get back to yall after I put some playtime on to my laptoip.

The same exact thing has been happening to me for over a year now. I thought one of the upgrades would fix it but no go. Finally, I found someone who is having the same problem.

Same deal for me. Powerbook on 10.5.5

here are some screen caps

See the 3 files at the top without the CD icon? Those are tracks i played in my last serato session. I quit serato, rebooted my machine, re-opened serato, and they were there. Duplicate files, but without the CD icon.

You'll also see they showed up in the playlist crate I made.

Any help would be much appreciated!

yes, that suggestion seems to work... Ive had some more duplicates since then, but the duplicate now turn red when I try to load them and once deleted they don't re appear. Thanks again Zach
