Club gig was only about an hour, I play the same spot every week. There's a speaker very close to my head and the volume of the headphones just wasn't cutting it. I could hear it but just barely. The sound quality was amazingly great, extremely clear - very nice on the low end. I usually use SSL running through a Pioneer 909 and this was noticeably better. I tried using the microphone and the latency is terrible you just have to spit out what you need to say and try not to listen to yourself. - Second gig was a small house party. Everything ran fine but there seemed to be some sound dropouts at one point. I never saw a usb light come on.
Knobs, hard to see what position they're in. The red markings disappear in the dark. You just have to feel around for the notch.
Gain - VCI-300 doesn't really give you that extra bit of volume you might need for a softer song. Running the VCI-300 into another mixer that would be able to push the sound a little more if you need it is pretty much necessary - especially if you need to use a mic. Using SSL I could always adjust the the internal gain as a last resort if I needed it.

Hi there gmobley,
We are going to do something about the microphone latency in an up & coming release, so please hold tight until then.
What are your computer specs/OS.
In regards to the drop outs, have you tried adjusting the buffer setting?
Also in regards to the output compensation for tracks with lower volumes, do you have autogain selected?

Red was not a good choice indeed.

Zeb,
Used my VCI this weekend for my frist paying gig. Realize it has some small issues to get worked out, but the mic latency was by far the most disappointing seeing how I was responsible for providing all means of sound and vocal equipment. You mentioned a fix coming in a new release. DO we have an idea as to when this will come out?
