I build overviews and obtain the bpm's, but once the file is loaded in offline or with hardware connected I get this 5242880. All my AAC files do this. I'm using ver. 1.8.1 (18120). Now the funny thing is if I load 1.8.0 no problem, everything works fine, AAC and bpm live together happily. I just purchased the Denon DN-HC4500 and love the native support and should not have to revert back to 1.8.0. I also tested the 1.8.2 ver and the problem still exists. HELP!!!! Lastly I use itunes to encode my files, but do not use the library in SSL, I use Crates.

when you have the overviews built, do they show as a regular number and then freak out when loaded to the deck? Or is it that they have the freakish number to begin with?
Did you select the proper bpm range before you built your overviews? Did you try the beta version of 1.8.2 or the newer full release version?

They do show as a regular number when in my crate and when loaded but upon playing that's when the freak out happens. Then after that they show with the crazy numbers.
Bpm range I had set at none, but looking at another thread I then took a new aac file set the correct range, but alas the same thing happens. I used the beta version (18206). The full version has been released?

I still experience the same problem with the full version (18221). I have tried the software on three
Mac sytems and the problem still persists. The only version that works correctly is 1.8.0, but no native
support for my Denon controller. Please let me know if you can figure it out. I'm going to try the software
on a windows machine and see if the results are the same.

Hi Spenizm,
do you use itunes?
did you use any other tagging programs, or add the BPM for these songs in another program?

What's up Chad and Josh? Yes I use itunes to import my songs, but ssl to organize them. No I do not use another tagging program and I only use ssl to get the auto bpm.
I did use a windows machine to see if the results were similar, but they work on windows. No problems whatsoever, the aac files work just fine. Back to the Mac and a totally different outcome.
Could it be a problem because my Macs are not Intel based? They are PPC. I even thought that maybe the encode rate(320) was to high so I decreased it to (160), but no luck there.
I'm going to try one last thing, that is going to my local Music store and loading my test file onto thier Intel based Mac/SSL system and see if It does the same freak out. I have a good relationship with the store manager so it will not be a problem. Also I need to be sure they are running a version that I have the problems with.

They are running 1.8.0 so no use trying it.Now I am back at square one, Powerbook G4 with OS X 10.4.11, SSL 1.8.0 which works wonderfully with AAC files, but no native support for DN-HC4500 and 1.8.2 with native support but AAC files behave strangely with bpm info.

Try renaming the databaseV2 file(s).
It might be that SSL is reading a corrupt database.
Rename the databaseV2 files from the 'Scratch LIVE' folder located in your 'Music' or 'My Music' folder on your internal drive, and in your _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external drive (only if you have imported tracks off of an external).
To get to your _ScratchLIVE_ folder, open SSL, click the import tab, highlight your external drive, highlight the _ScratchLIVE_ folder, and press ctrl+r (PC) or apple+r (Mac).
This will open up a separate browser and show you the contents of the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external.
From here keep that browser window open, completely quit SSL, and then rename the databaseV2 file in the separate browser window to something like 'databaseV2_corrupt".
Open SSL.
Let us know if that fixes it.

It did not work by renaming the databasev2 files.
Did my uploaded file work on your end?
I loaded 1.8.0 back up and once again it works fine. 1.8.1 and 1.8.2 no luck.

Ya.. we thought we had this whipped in 1.8.2 but apparently not:(
I suppose stick with 1.8 until the developers can figure this out.

Ok we've isolated the problem, it only happens on PowerPC based Macs - we'll work on getting a fix in as soon as we can..

I had this problem. To fix it I converted all my AAC files to MP3 and converted the newly created mp3's ID3 tags to v2.3. Then, rebuilt the overviews.
If your library is mostly AAC this solution may not seem appealing to you but it has worked well for me.
Also, if you decide to consider this option -- the easiest way to do this is to create a new column in your itunes library for "Kind" (next to artist, album, time, genre, rating, etc) which will display your files as MPEG, AAC, or Purchased. Now if you organize your library to group the similar ones together (by clicking the word "Kind") you can isolate all your problematic AAC files and batch convert them.

If you're still having issues with AAC file BPM info, please give the 1.8.3 beta version a try -->> www.scratchlive.net
