I love all the current effects on the 57SL, but I would LOVE LOVE love some more. I got a chance to play with the Pioneer DJM800 today and I'm kind of upset that the 57SL does not have a crush, sweep, or harmonic distortion, like the DJM800 does.
I know this could be easily added. How long do we have to wait?

The 57 does have a (bit)crush and sweep.
(bit)crush = desecrator
sweep = any of the filters, set frequency to minimum then use J1 to sweep through frequency range.

clickclick, did you update the firmware of your mixer to the most recent version?

yea, the one that came with 1.8.1 right? its like 3.0 or something
How is the crush? I'll go try it out right now. Is it like the pioneer mixer? I read on this thread about some guy suggesting that with the press of a button we can enable the EQ dials to be substituted by effect controls. That would really be a very good feature.

I still want the 'bass processing' that I suggested in the first thread (before the TTM57 was released) polling DJ's about what effects they want.
Also a real reverb would be nice...although that might require RAM that the 57 doesn't have.

The 57 has RAM... but I think it's limited to something like 3s.

I know the mixer version has built in efx, but they should implement some of those features for users who only own the box version, at least a couple of them, like :delays, flanger, echoes etc...

That is a totally unique idea that has never been suggested in this forum before.

The roll effect (ala the 909) is basically an auto loop, with the addition that the loop continues to play "under" the music, or "over" it if you set the depth >50%. It's pretty much the same as the hold echo, but with no decay.

A roll can be used to make the trancifier effect, but that's not what it is in and of itself. The roll is just a loop sampler. I guess just watch this video for the Roll effect... Watchwww.youtube.com (go to 4:13-5:05)

I don't see any difference with the Echo Hold on a TTM57. Can you elaborate wha the difference is?

There's no echo with a roll, just a repeating loop that doesn't decay.

Nothing. Roll is just Pionner's name for a loop sampler.

Again, no, they are slightly different. If they were the same then they wouldn't be separate effects on the 909 (909 has both roll and hold echo).
Hold echo continually sends the music to be echoed (unless you close the fader)
Roll does not continually send the music, it just samples whatever amount of beats you selected (1/4, 1/2, 1, etc.), loops it, and doesn't echo/decay.
Can't really explain it any better than that.

Ah got it now.
Another try:
Well.. that's an autoloop on SSL then, right?
:)

Well.. that's an autoloop on SSL then, right?
Basically....yeah. But the music still continues to play on, so you hear both the looped part + music. Unless you put the effect depth at 100%, in which case you'll hear just the loop.
It's great for build-ups.
And there's been many suggestions to able to do this with just the loops in SSL (i.e. loops play over music and/or when exiting loops go back to where song "would" have been if you didn't loop, like the censor, these two combined basically equal the roll effect)

I know this could be easily added. How long do we have to wait?
HARMONICS. I may start a new thread for this, cuz the Harmonic effect on my DJM 800 was a jewel for mixing in key, and doesn't seem to get a lot of press around here.
How long will I have to wait to be able to adjust the pitch (harmonics/key) of a track with the 57? With the DJM 800 I would colour sweep with the Harmonics function and a track could be moved into the correct pitch, (or a nice key change to add energy to a mix) This can be done with the 57, can't it?
