User Customizable keyboards Shortcut

I think this will be a nice improvment. I would like to customize the keyboards shortcut, in order to assign the different functions in the way i like it with the keyboard.
Exemple : To map a song, with TFS i was using keys '1' for deck A and key '2' for deck B....a lot more simple than 'ctrl + <-' for deck A and 'ctrl + ->' for deck B.....
Is that possible?

Hi... I kinda have a gripe about my keyboard and not being able to customize the shortcuts... on my toshiba sat A25 there is no ctrl button on the right side... so i have to use two hands to map a track... i really like the fact on my old hp laptop that i could browse with the up or down arrows and then map the song all w/ one hand... will we be able to customize the shortcuts? at least change the map shortcut to atl+(left)/(right)... :) :P

The keystroke already works with shift+(left/right).
In fact that's what I always use, because I don't have a ctrl key near my arrows either.

Yes, no news about this feature since a lot of time...but i think it's very simple to implement (the proof, this feature was in FS 1.0...muhahahahaha)!
And very usefull feature, when you are in the mix, it's not very accurate to press two or three button of the keyboard to map a song!!

I would call these shortcuts, drunken proof mode. At least its very unlikely that I map a track accidently.

yes this is configurable shortcuts, that give the possibility to use only one button to map a song and not a combination of two buttons!

could there be a way to hold down to copies of a record at the same time using a shortcut please. for example so your looking thru your list of tunes and you see a double you want to juggle you could hold down control and drop two copies of it into prepare if your planning a mixtape there or could you drop a copy of it into both 'decks' at the same time to save that extra nanosecond that could be the difference between winning a title and being a nobody all your life

my argument for user customizable keyboard shortcuts
for turntablism routines, addressing the laptop and executing keyboard shortcuts can be difficult when you're trying to cue up the next record in time.
While it seems joysticks can be used to perform keyboard shortcuts, they are awkward on a dj setup.
A USB keypad could be used and placed almost anywhere near the turntable setup and the keys be re-assigned "next track", "assign to left deck" & "assign to right deck". Since the keypad is so small, it may fit right on the mixer and the dj can concentrate on executing the set and not so much navigating around the laptop keyboard.
The down arrow, and CTRL-LFT/RGT are easy enough, the screen and the rest of the keyboard aren't really necessary for turntablist routines. So customizing keystrokes to the keypad brings it down the essentials of what a turntablist would need in a performance situation.
I hope you consider this for the next update.
thanks

What's up now with that? I just figured out how looping works and I am messing all shourtcuts up. Would be really nice improvement.

Ability to assign new shortcuts to these functions urgently required here also.
Anyone here who may be interested, windows xp is it possible to alter keyboard layouts by hacking the registry unfortunately this will be be enough to cure the multiple key strokes required for SSL.
One could almost assume the delay and lack of reply on this subject is due to sales for 57, I guess it is not cost effective to help out the existing customers.. I don't think I would buy a 57 due to the fact I can fit the SSL box in my notebook case whereas an entire mixer would be a pain for me.
Please sort this out for us.

the display needs a facelift.Î hate this orange and blue big tracknames.the track waveforms(from the complete track) can be bigger. are u guys working on this????

this would be agreat one. since i have changed from fs and my orientation is still very left-right and i find the top-bottom concept of the keyboard layout very confusing sometimes (especially later at night)..
for example i would map deck a the QWERT key for all controls, ASDF for looping and so on, while deck B would be on the right side of the keyboard.
also it would enable the user to use a small numeric keyboard (like this one www.amazon.com) that can sit right next to the mixer or held in the hand.
this isnt a big feature, but would make things more flexible..
thanks

you are already able to use horizontale waveforms like final sh*t uses!
just check in your setup (from V1.6 onwards I guess)

i know and i like the horizontal waveforms, but what i am saying is the layout of the keyboard. its top-bottom orientated, while my decks are obviosly left-right and this is just not logic to me. even if you use the vertival waveforms, you always have to convert..
know what i mean?

I agree that it isn't really necessary for me anyway to change the keys layout and especially if I have to "hack" anything on my computer! I would however like to see Rane design an external (via USB?) controller MAINLY for tapping in cue points live...I really like this feature but I find that I end up mashing the keyboard while mixing so I'm concerned about ruining my lappy... If you had a small keypad with controls for ONE deck, with a crossfader style switch on top to select which deck you're controlling you wouldn't have to worry about hitting the wrong key so much and affecting the other deck that's playing... oh and if it had a clamp or something to hold it onto the case/coffin near the mixer I think that would be "The S**T!"
PEACE!

Please incorporate custom key commands. I find some of them to be unintuitive and would like to disable others that are not useful to me. This would help stream line my mixing process.

Wouldn't it be a nice idea to use some of the f keys as short samples that you can customize. Like have some noises, or intros that u usually have to look for, just be at your finger tips. You can also have 2 songs going at once and hit one of the sample to create an explosion or what ever you want to put on them!!! At least for me that would come in handy and I'm sure for most of you it would too.

Hi,
Just another person to add to the list of people wanting the added bonus of wanting to re assign my shortcut keys to something that would benifit me greatly.
Any luck of seeing this in the near future?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm seriously missing a keyboard-shortcut to clear the search field, without the cursor moving to it and the selected song leaving the display.
Now you have to press Crtl-L + Backspace + Tab (+ CursorUp + CursorDown). The CursorUp+CursorDown is actually necessary to bring the display back to center on selected song in case that option is selected.
Even if that option is not selected it would be nicer to have the selected song centered after the search field is cleared, because now the selected song is always at the bottom of the screen. This is not very helpful, because probably searching and clearing the search field afterwards is used to search a certain song and then looking for other tracks of that artist or album or bpm-range - depending on how the song list is sorted.
Furthermore it would be nice if a cursor up or down movement in the search field would lead you automatically to the song list. This is more intuitive than the tab-key and much faster as you will use the up- and down-keys anyway unless the current search-result includes only a single track. And you don't need the up- and down-keys inside the search field, so why not used them to leave the search field?

Oh, an ironic answer. ESC clears the search field, yes. But that wasn't the question!
Pressing ESC also makes the selected song leave the display, therefore it is not better than backspace. It is even worse, because backspace won't make scratchlive asking you to exit the software if pressed outside the search field, which is the case with ESC.

I would also really like this feature. I don't use half the shortcuts and would like to be able to use the keyboard how I see fit. Seems easy enough - have an option to "clear keyboard shortcuts" and then another option just like the MIDI assign....

i'm all for it.
i prefer a left vs right keyboard shortcuts assignment instead of the upper row - lower row fixed setup.

i think the only thing that would be appropriate is different kind of choose-able layouts. For example one keyboard layout could be for internal mode...one for TC control mode...etc etc.

Hey guys! Just coming over from another TCV system, so I would most definitely love Serato to allow me to choose which keyboard shortcuts work best for me. Defaults are all well and good, but I'd really like that control.

opening prepare (+record, +Hardware, +SP-6, + DJ-FX) is not possible with a short-cut
Workaround perhaps:
ctrl shift P -> opens prepare window
ctrl shift R -> opens record window
ctrl shift S -> opens SP-6 window
ctrl shift D -> opens DJ-FX window
ctrl shift H -> opens History window
ctrl space -> close the windows above
