Anyone live in an area where the all the clubs have all the same set of dj's? It seems like there is about 4 or 5 dj's that seem to spin everywhere u go. How do u find work in these situations?

yep, boston is like this, 4 or 5 Dj's that play all the major clubs.....I broke in. now im one of them...... basically you gotta find out who's booking them and hustle your ass off to get a spot one night, then go in tear the roof off the club and most likely youre good to go.

I've not really thought about this before. Now I have the area I live in tends to have the same DJ's again like Soprano me being one of them.
Thinking about it I kind of got brought in by someone that lived here I moved to the area a few years ago and have just got to know people over the years and got bookings that way. I do network alot but not in an upfront way. I'm not in your face giving out CDs asking for gigs etc. I just play my gigs do them well and support other dj's when they got their sets. Promoters I see me as being professional. I turn up early don't really complain about anything other then equipment issues or something that will directly effect the night. I'm flexible with tunes if need be. If I'm running late I call them and let them know the deal then call to update on the runnings unlike a lot of DJ's who turn their phone off and turn up at midnight expecting the prime slot.
That and we're all kind of known for different things so we're all like competition as in we all want to be the best but without the worry that we're stepping on anyones toes trying to be that.
How to get into that type of business. I couldn't really say because thinking about it I've been kind of lucky I guess to be in the position I am.

If you want to do it Mobster style, you need to take a de-magnetizer wand and walk by there harddrive and wipe it clean. This will allocate you the opportunity to come in and save the day.
You could always do and off night and open for these DJ's on weekend nights. Sooner or later, things always change.
Seattle, haha. You definitely have to be in a crew to get steady gigs.
