Offline Player Not Working

Works fine when SSL Box is plugged in but Doesn't play ANY tracks in the offline player. I can play all other internal sounds from Youtube, Quicktime, iTunes, etc.
The preview of the waveform loads, but the main wave form remains blank. Play button will highlight, but wave doesn't load or move.

Here is my hardware.

Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

and im running serato 1.8.1
and im running Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
I have re-scanned ID3 Tags.
Ive changed various audio caches.
NOTHING.

Any help is GREATLY Appreciated.

The files that do not play in the offline player, do they play with SSL connected in internal mode?

Make sure you have your computer's internal sound card selected as your output in the 'sound' options of the 'System Preferences'.

Its not even some files, its all the files. My entire library doesnt play in the offline player, but plays on Internal Mode when the SSL is connected.

and the internal sound card is default on the Mac. I get sound out of ever other application and website, just not Serato.

Hm... do you get sound if you revert back to 1.8?
What type of files do you have in your SSL library?

I've heard of the offline player not working when using Vista but never a Mac?

what do you mean, by what type of files? like MP3's, etc.?
All MP3's.

Ive had this problem sporadically with 1.8, and upgraded to 1.8.1 thinking it was a bug.

How can I go back to 1.8?

DJ LOS NY wrote
If you had this issue using 1.8 then there is no need to go back to that version.

Like I said.. I've never come across this with a Mac. I'm gonna guess its something outside of SSL but I will get the Serato devs. to chime in and see what they have to say.

Hold tight.

Have you tried restarting your computer?

As in powering on and powering off? Yes, this has been a problem since 1.8 came out, but it would work some times, and other times wouldnt, but hasnt worked with 1.8.1 at all.

Hi there DJ LOS NY,

This really is a strange one, is it possible to back up all your music files then remove SSL entirely from your drive, then do a fresh install.

I mean it is possible, but will I lose custom crates that I've made in Serato?

Try adjusting the audio cache setting, within the setup screen, all the way to 60 and then retest the offline player.

Have you checked the Sound option within the System Prefereces of OSX?

How many output options do you have listed?
At 10:53 PM 15 July 2008
Shaun W wrote

Rane, Support
The only sound option is internal speakers, and like i said, it works for everything else, except Serato. I truly think its a glitch/bug. The overview will load, the main wave form will not, but you can see a cue point (if there's a cue at the beginning of the track) just not the wave.

The strange thing about the issue you're having is that you're seemingly the only Mac user having this problem.

If you load a track to the left virtual deck and then disconnect the SL1, does the song continue to play in the offline player?

Go through all the tabs within the setup screen and list what's checked in each tab. In addition, check the vinyl control tab and make sure both vinyl start offset knobs are at zero 00:00.00

When I load a track into the left deck, on internal mode. and it plays, and i disconnect, it stops where it is, the wave form is shown, but does not continue to play. if I then eject the song, and reload, no waveform is shown.

(whats checked in each tab)

HARDWARE TAB - USB Buffer Size - 8

PLAYBACK TAB - track end warning, playback keys use shift, use auto gain, hi fi resampler

on song load - instant doubles, play from first cue point.

braking - at 9 o clock

audio output - stereo

VINYL CONTROL TAB - vinyl control adjust loops with vinyl
vinyl scroll speed - set at 3 o clock

needle dropping - nothing checked

vinyl start offset - both at 0

LIBRARY TAB - center on selected song, include subcrate tracks

DISPLAY TAB - maximum screen updates (per second) 30

audio cache (seconds) 60

is it possible that there is a hidden folder on my MAC that wasn't deleted when I un-installed Serato?
maybe the folder is corrupt?

Tell me everything that would need to be deleted from the Mac, and where it is, before re-installing Serato. . .

Thanks for all your help.

DJ LOS NY wrote
Unless your internal drive is partitioned or if you're using an external drive there's only three things you'll need to delete to completely remove everything SSL related.

#1 The ScratchLIVE folder within your user Music folder

#2 The com.Serato.ScratchLIVE.plist file located here: Macintosh HD/User/Library/Preferences/com.Serato.ScratchLIVE.plist

#3 The SeratoScratchDriver.kext file located here: Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/SeratoScratchDriver.kext

Move all the above files and folders to a new folder labeled (bad files) and then reinstall SSL.

If that does the trick, please upload the (bad files) folder for the Serato developers to use for testing.

didn't work. . .
Took all of those files, and put them into a seperate folder. deleted the app out of the applications folder, re-installed Serato, loaded in different folders, none of the wave forms load.
