Will ITCH work with SSL VIDEO?

korpos 3:10 PM - 18 January, 2008
It only makes sense that an internal program will be able to handle the video plugin too, for those folks who want to do video, but don't want to bring their own mixer to the club?

Can anyone comment on this? I am on the fence, as it would take $1600 or so for me to be able to use SLL Video, because I have to purchase the TT57, that is a huge investment for someone that buys a ton of equipment each year - and already owns a really expensive mixer. Many club applications I enter don't allow me to bring my own mixer....so hopefully you can answer this question?
DJ MDX 5:46 PM - 20 January, 2008
I am also curious about this?

I am very interested in ITCH packaged with the VCI-300. It looks to be a great combo but would also like to use SL-Video or ITCH Video for that matter ;-)

It seems natural that ITCH and SL1 users should have a Serato video plugin. Especially considering how many new users Serato will have once these new ITCH bundles hit the market.
DJ MDX 1:30 AM - 2 February, 2008
From the FAQ :(

Quote:
Does ITCH support VIDEO-SL?
The forthcoming ITCH products will not support VIDEO-SL.
cMo 3:03 AM - 2 February, 2008
Right, but there will probably bee a Video-ITCH and another one for the SL1 users, eventually.
korpos 5:22 PM - 7 February, 2008
I would hope that they would eventually support video. It just doesn't make sense to me that they would want to limit themselves. There are a ton of sales out there to be made. There are a ton of veteran DJ's that are strictly using midi-controllers and their software. Not everybody uses vinyl these days, especially if you are strictly a house DJ. I am not talking about bedroom DJ's, I am talking about house DJ's with years of experience that have left their 1200's behind....

Anyway, it would be nice if there was a video option for these DJ's without having to utilize the 57 mixer. As I have said in other forums, it's not a money issue - spending money on gear is something I am well used to. But the external mixer doesn't quite fit into my club set up.....it's just one more thing to have to find room for and set up....

Maybe Serato has a deal with Rane that prevents them from bringing video to ITCH in the near future. I was actually surprised to see Serato is working with Vestax and Numark now... Maybe Rane said "OK do the ITCH thing, but at least leave out video..."

+1 Video for Itch and the NS7 is a must! When can we see beta on that?
djsimonse 7:06 AM - 27 June, 2010
+1. Video for Itch would keep NS7 alive for a while longer! I'm considering getting Virtual-DJ until Serato has fixed this. It's very sad, but I'd like to be able to do Video with NS7.

For regular Music-DJ'ing I'm considering changing to a smaller but simpler solution with Denon HC-1000S for easy carriage.
Ragman 7:15 AM - 27 June, 2010
I think ns7/v7 will continue to do fine without video. would be nice if they could add it but not a deal breaker.

sure it will survive without video but i would be a GREAT piece of gear for the mobile guy that also does video
Ragman 2:36 AM - 28 June, 2010
Agreed. Just responding to djsimonse post "Video for Itch would keep NS7 alive for a while longer!" NS7 will continue to do well even if they never add video. Just like the Pio CDJs continue to do well even though they never made that platter spin.
Awesome steve 3:01 AM - 28 June, 2010
I prefer non-motorized platters myself. It's what I learned on.

What am I gonna do if I ever have to spin with technics? Should I meet up with someone and practice? I realize the appeal, and I respect it; but I'm too nervous to try it for the first time, because the only chance I have to practice is on Thursday night at my bar, and I don't want the regulars to see me mess up.

bar gigs are great practise spots not as much pressure as clubs

I have noticed that if I completely screw up while playing at the bar, nobody seems to care. I think I'd like to make the graduation from didital controller to vinyl control records. I think it's something that I would enjoy. Long term plan is to get a proper scratch live setup, but I don't have the funds yet.

I have a turntable (80's model pioneer direct drive) that I use to play music, but I have zero experience mixing and djing on vinyl. I'm afraid of damaging needles, cartridges, etc.

not to knock you getting a proper scratch live set up... however the ns7 or v7 can do darn near as close to a turntable set-up as you need unless you plan on entering scratch battles and comps
Awesome steve 5:04 AM - 28 June, 2010
I had seriously considered an ns7 over my vci-3000. The reason I chose the vci was because of the free-spinning platters. They work so well for me, but I want to try out the obvious alternitave.
Ragman 6:29 AM - 28 June, 2010
Yeh it doesn't have to be turntables and vinyl and all the crap that goes along with it to still get the turntable experience. Heck even going with the Denon DN-S3700 is an option.

I think that many dj's are waiting for serato itch video plugin, i have the ns7 and i have to work with virtual dj and is not the same as itch

Given what an awful year it's been for Scratch Live and Video SL, the least Serato can do towards fixing things is go ahead and open up video for Itch already.
XRM5 8:47 PM - 30 September, 2011
Never mind, they just need to add what Inklen needs for Mix Emergency support into the API or whatever--Inklen will do the rest beautifully, as they've already proven they can do.

How hard can that be?

Will Serato itch ever be able to mix video's ??? Will there ever be an update where we can video dj ? I love the v7's but im looking to get into mixing video's like most other club dj's out there.... Serato am I gonna have to buy different gear in order to mix my video's or will there be an update to the itch for video mixing in the near future ???

One must remember back in January 18th 2008 @ 12:01 am where a "Dave" from Serato stated here serato.com the following:
Quote:
Serato is as close as ever with Rane.

We still have a rock solid, exclusive agreement with Rane for Serato Scratch LIVE.

We have also just launched VIDEO-SL, which is distributed by Rane. Check out VIDEO-SL here -> serato.com

With this said and done I wonder if Serato entered an exclusive agreement with Rane on all video play back capability in any Serato software.

Keep in mind video is only supported in:
Rane SL 2
Rane SL 3
Rane SL 4
Rane SL 1
Rane Sixty-Eight Mixer
Rane TTM 57SL Mixer
Rane MP4 Mixer

All of which are Rane based controllers will work with Video SL.
notice no other brands are supported to make use of the Video plugin. Despite file management and structure similarities within Serato's software lines such as itch and now Intro.

This is probably why SeratoHQ tweeted on Twitter that they want Video Just as bad.
This could also explain why Mix Emergency or anyone else to this day have not released a plugin for video for within ITCH despite the file structure similarities between ITCH and SL.

Unless I am wrong on this then the probability of having Video for ITCH anytime soon or anytime in the future is equal to: NONE

And if the assumption is correct then the only way we will see video in ITCH is if there is a statute of limitation(s) to this assumed agreement in which a specific clause binds them to the terms ONLY to a specifically defined or specific predetermined amount of time.

Regardless of the situation I will say I am very impressed by how Serato ITCH has continuously progressed from its earlier stages (which were even impressive then) and has now evolved and continues to progressively evolve in a very strong and positive direction.

Wrong,

Serato has been working on Video for ITCH for a while.
This was even talked about on the DDJ-S1 Intro Video.

Even if Video-SL Plugin is Exclusive to Rane, Serato can still create a separate plugin from the ground up and make it compatible with ITCH.

Serato is a software company. They can license software, but no company will be foolish enough to license technologies, such as video mixing, and make them exclusive to any company!

I'm sure that's why ITCH was created from the ground up, to go around the licensing agreements with Rane.

I guess we will know soon enough!

Video is just around the corner, although Serato tends to make corners a little longer than usual! :p
Ragman 9:13 PM - 12 October, 2011
I hope you're right. At this point I given up hope of seeing video for Itch.

I wonder if the reason why they just pushed Itch to 2.0 was to make room for plugins. 2.0 is pretty nice.

I agree even though Itch got a poor rating with my V7 which I am in love with and is my new best friend but thats besides the point.. I found that the user function of Itch was great.. Much more responsive than VDJ. I really dont like that not all my music formats are supported in Itch and the most important Video is not supported at all but all and all the program is dope. Yes PLEASE BRING ALL MUSIC AND VIDEO TO ITCH. I am forced to use VDJ at this point for my live gigs and thats a bummer.

Happy New year to all the DJ's out there and make sure to rock the house down as I will be!!
