simple - download java, install ScratchTools, open cmd from 'run' in start menu, type cd c:\Program Files\ScratchTools, type java -jar -Xms512m -Xmx512m ScratchTools.jar and see if the menu pops up, if so press the up arrow button then add "G:/" or whereever your tracks are, then --sync-subcrates "cMo;cMo" or whatever folder you want to synchronize with SSL - it includes all your subcrates - now try to refrain from !!!!J)&%#&_)^_)(@&%_$)(*$_)!&%^_()$^&*

:)

Once you do that, and it works, time to create a batch file and store it in your C:\Program Files\ScratchTools directory. Open Note Pad and type out the above lines, then save as ASI filename.bat and boom, click that before your gigs.

A.- How Do I Log/register to the ScratchTool Forum?
B.- Since I couldnt post / DL anything from there, I'm after This Info:
I've updated a Folder (in my PC-leptop) with new tunes, Now I Open SSL & need to update same Crate inside aswell, Is there any other way to do it, without having to drag each folder on to the crate inside?

Thx !!!

Soulomon: You log/register to the ScratchTool forum as you would any other forum.

You can download from there, but from what I remember you have to scroll down a bit.

When you update a folder in your laptop with new tunes, and you want to update, or "synchronize" your SSL crate(s) as well, that is what ScratchTools.jar is for. You simply go to start, run, type "cmd", cd C:\Program Files\ScratchTools, java -jar -Xms512m -Xmx512m ScratchTools.jar "location of your mp3 folder/" --sync-subcrates "name of your mp3 folder;name you want your SSL crate to be, including all subcrates" and voila stand back and watch the magic happen.

This program saved me so much time and frustration, may it help many many more too.

No, it's not just you. However, there is a learning curve for most of the great programs out there. Konix has broken it down for you, but you have to take the time to sit down, read, and make the effort to learn / do what he's telling you.

Once you get it, it really is that simple. If you would rather sync your crates & folders by hand, go right ahead, you'll only be hurting yourself by not taking advantage of a great program that can save you lots of time and effort.

I have a ton of batch files I use now, because all my tracks are on an external drive, and depending on which port I use and which computer, the drive G, H, I, J, K, whatever changes from time to time.

Here's what I do, read this and be inspired:

1. Get music
2. Fix tags (I use tag&rename for that, and it's great)
3. Sync-subcrates with ScratchTools
4. Build overviews
5. Rescan id3 tags in SSL
6. Tick far left column and delete pink files

You people are advanced enough to learn SSL, you should be smart enough to figure out how to type one silly line of code in the command prompt window!! Especially if it will save you hours of drag-and-dropping tracks from your hard drive into crates / subcrates in SSL!!!

Further breakdown of my process:

1. I keep all new tracks into a folder on my hard drive called 1
2. I go in there at the end of the week and fix tags first
3. Then I cut / paste the tracks into the right folder on my hard drive
4. I organize my hard drive by genre / subgenre
5. I sometimes don't finish organizing before the club, so I have 2 different batch files:
A. Batch file for folder "1"
B. Batch file for folder "cMo"
That way I can have all my new tracks imported as a crate named "1" in SSL, and I can mix out of there, or the tracks will pop up when I use the ctrl-f / search box.

What's in the batch file? I'll paste one of them for you:

cd C:\Program Files\ScratchTools
java -jar -Xms512m -Xmx512m ScratchTools.jar "I:/" --sync-subcrates "cMo;cMo"
java -jar -Xms512m -Xmx512m ScratchTools.jar "I:/" -r "bpm;song;artist;comment;location;year;added;length"
cd C:\Program Files\Serato\ScratchLIVE\
Start ScratchLIVE.exe

All I do is open my file browser, tick 'My Computer,' open 'Local Disc C,' open 'Program Files,' open 'ScratchTools,' then double click on the batch file for whatever drive I'm using. The batch file above is named: I cMo.bat because it is for my I:\cMo folder, which is an external drive I and my dj folder called "cMo."

Mac - Making and using a shell script to save time with repeated functions

Hope they are understandable, and gives you some insight.

Love it. I simply sync Folders to Crates and it work like a charm.

I also use the cMo method with a folder that have every new tracks in of every genre. After 2 weeks of playing, those that are hot goes into their genre fodlers/crates and the other into the bin...

At this point the only thing I didn't succeed in (but I will work on this) is how to delete the orphan crates entries ? I mean when the tracks are not there anymore, I see them in red in SSL.
How to remove them with scratchtools ? I tried the orphan command but with no luck.
At 9:59 AM 7 July 2008
dj_spark wrote
The orphan functions are not for removing red/missing files. The orphan command will remove tracks that not in any crate/subcrate but in the library (aka the ALL crate), or move all orphan tracks to a new crate.

To remove red/missing tracks use the --delete-missing command.
