we can't possibly have the same thoughts. the majority is heard. post on that thread in favor of flac support.

Best tool for ripping is EAC (for MP3 with LAME). It has the most afvanced ripping options that ensure clean rips. It can also encode to FLAC and many other formats. Conversion is also possible but a little tedious.

EAC is free!

easy CDDA is much easier :) and produces the same results
xo-vision 2:56 PM - 3 November, 2010
Hi Marc! I am sorry to disagree. I compared CDDA with EAC. CDDA is easier to use but it is not as good when CD's are not 100% ok.
marcA 5:42 PM - 3 November, 2010
no problem on the disagreement :)
you could be right that EAC does a better job on bad discs, but only if your cd player is recognized by the soft (the offset that needs to be applied)
that said,CDDA also takes this into account but doesn't try as hard as EAC probably
now i only have problems with some older copy protected cd's, and none of the above can handle those...

Try EAC with "burst" mode for copy protected CD's - most of the time it works!

The offset recognition is automatic nowadays with EAC and works with all my CD burners! Maybe you'll retry?

How about giving the option to record in mp3 format as well when using a mac to record your session.
zaguama 2:57 AM - 4 November, 2010
I think it has not been implemented since most of the users will edit their recordings on wav or aiff prior to encoding it to mp3.
DJdaveZ 5:46 AM - 4 November, 2010
you can always convert in winamp or itunes or audacity...

the drive itself is recognised but i have a few cd's that won't read no matter what i do...

The discussion is getting a little "off topic", but: did you try "burst mode"?

EAC - Drive Options - Extraction Options - Burst Mode
marcA 10:57 AM - 4 November, 2010
@xo
oh yes, tried everything
the problem is that the disc isn't even recognised by windows
so it's like there is no disc present
but you're right, this should leave this thread :)
