Hey guys just contimplating getting the Efx 1000 i wanted any comments good or bad out there about it? im running a xone DX through itch and am craving qualit effects.. everyone that uses serato will know just how bad the effects r. i recently bought the kaoss pad kp3 but am very disappointed in it, its more of a toy then a precision effects unit. the arn't enough acurate effect peramiters on the kp3 and the effects sound average at best. there is no comparrison between the quality of effects between the DJM 800 mixer and the KP3. (the 800 flogs it).
R the effects on the EFX1000 as good a quality as the DJM 800? also i heard u have to always loop the song into the EFX1000 rather then using it as a standard easy effects unit, is this true?
thanks in advance...

I got the efx-1000 a few weeks after it came out. I had some problems with it with the BPM counter going haywire there rendering the efx unit useless. I had it serviced by a place and they couldn't fix it but finally Pioneer warrantied it and I got the circuitboard replaced. It's been working fine for a few years.
To be honest, I think the effects/sound between the 500 and the 10000 aren't worth the 200-300 premium price of the 10000. If you are mainly a top40/hip hop DJ, a lot of the effects don't really fit with the genre. Yes, there's a lot you can do with the 1000, but if you already have a DJM800, there's no need for it. Also I haven't played around with 2.0-2.1 effects (since I'm on 1.9.2), but I'm assuming that effects are adequate and will only get better with future updates.

I just looked at the going price for an efx1000, and I can't believe that thing retails for over $1000 and the amazon price is $850. I got mine for about $600 when it first came out......What a rip off.
BTW, You don't have to have the 1000 in efx loop output/inputs on the mixer (send and return). You can do it post fader/mixer and have the mixer's master outs go into the efx unit and then the efx to your amp/speakers.

i dont see what the problem is with the kp3. i also have one and i find its quite accurate if used right. maybe you need more practice with it since you just got it.
it does require learning the pad areas for different effects, sometimes it can sound off if you place your finger on the pad in the wrong place. but i found that it took a while to get used to but its quite accurate imo.

I have the EFX-1000, I got it a couple of months ago. I've really liked it. I'm mostly a hip-hop DJ, so I mostly stick with the echoes and the flanger but they sound really nice. I use a TTM57SL and I just wasn't satisfied by the effects at all, I don't like that all the parameters are controlled in conjunction with the software. It makes sense from the point of view of saving space but if you want to be messing with the effect parameters on the fly it's much much nicer to have the actual knobs in front of you.
And I'd ALWAYS, go with hardware effects over any software effects, both because of they sound better and because you can do post-fader which is essential for using echo effects.

The two samples of that unit I tested both noticeably rolled off the very low bass, and overloaded way too easily when connected in the Flex-FX loop of a Rane mixer. Either one of those issues would be a deal-breaker for me.
The least-expensive (and least overall sound quality-degrading, since it doesn't involve any analog connections to external equipment) option is to try an inexpensive MIDI controller for the built-in Scratch Live effects.

@ Wazo... it's all very well learning the spots on the kp3 to touch to fine tune the sound, but when ur moving fast with two, three tracks playing and loops running it isn't easy to to touch the right spot and to control the effect.. especially under live pressure.. i really prefer twisting knobs and pushing buttons, at least however dark or rushed u r u know where u stand... the efx offers that at least... also the effect sound quality on the kp3 isn't the best, kinda likes on lot of the effects. dont get me wrong i love messing around on it at home or at little fun party gigs but i wouldn't use it at club level... more of a toy...

i hear that, i dont gig out with it, only for home as well. but i understand what your are saying. i wouldnt go as far as saying its a toy... but it could be better, maybe a KP4 would come out soon that has all the good shit. but im happy with mine so far.
i like to cut a beat with a scratch record, and record it and loop it
then do the same with a bass sample and record and loop and the same with 2 other sounds and use the 4 banks to sample turntable made beats. its quite fun to make something that sounds relatively well with just a few samples from a battle record.
(like DJ Radar does on the DVD "sratch" on the 2nd dvd features)
but anyways, i get what you are sayin.

yeah that is a good way to use it... i play more minimal and tech house so dont really need it for that, plus my xone DX has four decks so i can often run my loops and samples through the spare decks also. i guess if i didnt have them i would probably find the kp3 more useful using the sampling on it...

so i went into my local dj shop yesterday to buy a set of headphones and i got asking about the EFX... they told me that i shouldn't waste the money and there totally not worth it (the only shop in history that often tries not to sell me things, at least i can always trust them). however they always seem a bit funny with pioneer equipment. they said for the money u dont get that much.. i tod them i had a KP3 and they said i was crazy for even contemplating giving it up, every staff member in the shop sid they had one and all love it. they sugested that i spend some serious time learning how to use it properly.. im not all that convinced though, i got the feeling they use it mainly for producing rather then live mixing.. i spent quite a lot of time on yotube checking the efx out too and it does look better for how i would use it....

i use mine for live mixing and i do agree, with the KP3 you need to learn it well.

Wow, according to your profile you are in Australia and 1 Australian dollar equals about the same as one US dollar so $1400 for the 1000 is over twice what I paid for mine when it first came out.
Not sure why the 1000 would go up in price....it's a piece of technology and the price should DROP.
