I found out with some fine tuning how to run 1.7 smoothly without any audio dropouts.
I did a mix for over two hours and not one drop.
I'm on a Macbook: 10.5.8
Go to the SETUP tab and adjust the DISPLAY: to around 10 Maximum Screen Updates Per Sec.
Also maybe adjust the HARDWARE: Usb latency to around 10ms.
Works for me..The display screen is not so smooth but the mixing is fine. Maybe Serato can work something into this..

How bout setting DISPLAY to 5 updates per sec. and USB latency to 20ms...?
The strobe-like display may cause Epilepsy and the high USB latency can be used like the Echo effect when you're scratching.
The software is broke and needs to be fixed. The only real solution right now is version 1.5.

Maybe, but just can see there is some correlation between screen updates and audio dropouts. Maybe Serato can fix this now.

seratosnatch are you on osx 10.6.4? if so serato already had a lead that dropouts are caused by the new graphics code on the waveform, there seems to be a lot of graphics related issues on osx 10.6.4 not just with serato. Anyways, im glad you took care of it :), i fixed my dropouts by applying the latest graphics driver for my mbp.

I am on OSX 10.5.8..
always has worked well for me, so never updated.
Should I update some graphics driver?

not sure, i think the patch was released only for us 10.6.4 people, dont think 10.5.8 has the same issue but might want to check on your software updates if you have any patches available.

unfortunatly i did all that screen redraw adjusting and it did not help... so this makes it still a mystery as to what is the cause and the real fix

Hey guys,
I tested 10.6.4 before installing the graphics update & reproduced audio glitches with the XONE DX on two machines, an i5 MBP & a model 4,1 Macbook. I was able to reproduce these glitches at least every 10 minutes, some were minor & some were a lot worse.
I then tested after installing the graphics update & it didn't completely solve the issue for me but it did reduce it significantly. I am still not able to reproduce this issue with 10.6.3
As a side note, I could not reproduce any such issue with the VCI-300 or with the VFX-1 connected & when in use. I have not tested other ITCH controllers with this test procedure as of yet.
Cheers guys,
Zeb.

I'm on a 2008 MacBook (Black) 2.Ghz 2gb Ram.
Maybe it has something to do with the newer chip sets?
On the other hand, most drop out problem so far has been reported on 10.6.4...but you're getting them with 10.5.8?
What is the nature of the drop outs? Do you get the USB warning light only? Our do you get the audible drop outs as well?

i used to have the problem real bad i have a toshiba a665 and i found out a couple months ago that it was a hd audio driver that was causing my system to freeze with any type of media file i went to nvidia.com and looked up under their beta drivers and notice that they made an update to the hd audio driver...since then my computer no longer hangs or anything. since then nvidia published their new driver update non beta and it works flawless try that and you should be good if u had any hangs or looping noises... my audio dropout rarely happens anymore i just think its something with itch... i feel bad for toshiba warranty i sent my laptop back like 6 times... new hard drives mother boards graphics cards they ended up outsourcing to engineers than after that they sent me a new upgraded laptop with an updated card and more memory...still froze!!!!!!! come to find out it was Nvidias fault for their sucky old drivers...hope this helps u let me know!!!
