No, he was high on marijuana and was hallucinating that he did that.

So actually somebody else invented it, he just invested in it... Problem is in 1997 MP3 technology was still very new, hard drive space was still small... I remember I had a no name 233mhz laptop in 1997 running Windows 95... I remember telling a friend of mine who moved away to college in 96 that we should take this MP3 technology (it was very new at the time) and use it in real time to compress voice and send it over the internet so people could talk to each other and not pay long distance.

He uses an instant replay machine when he plays live.
I took this photo when I played support for him. Notice all the Wu Tang, Rza, and Gravediggaz track names on each button.
He used SSL later on in his set when he DJ'd (kinda badly) for a while but definitely no sign of any Wu Electronics or Replicators in the setup. lol

if I knew that it was still discussed like this I would've just asked instead of smoking a blunt with him. Which is waaaay better than an autograph on a 12" incidentally.

Who invented the mixer? Who invented the turntable? Who invented the computer?

...Bottom line, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

I think it matters quite a lot, if someone is trying to claim credit for something they didn't actually do.

So, if we find out that this "replicator" thing is real and that it was the start of the whole DVS thing, how exactly would it affect things now?

My guess is not that much at all.
