Happened in Christchurch which is in the South Island. We are in Auckland which is in the top North Island. :)
I hope everyone down there is ok though, I have friends in that city.

Same. We have such rad names for our main Islands too eh.

Christchurch is quite an old city. A lot of the damaged buildings are old brick buildings that have no flex in them. Many wooden buildings flexed and didn't give way but they have brick chimneys which did collapse. I've got a gig there in two weeks but the venue is destroyed as is the venue I played in last time.
The promoter, who cut his hand smashing a window because his front door was jammed, is finding us a new venue today. Some photos below...
