So just curious. In my 10 years of DJaying.... I never thought about going full time. I don't know why but I guess with the economy being so unstable, having multiple jobs is always a good thing.
Bread maker....
But I work full time for the National Guard
Part time College Student working on a degree in Communications
DJ Life....
DJ from Thursdays to Sundays at clubs with possible bookings during the week but not common.
Radio Play on Friday Nights for 2 hours.
Online radio streaming Saturday Afternoons and Monday through Wednesday for an hour.
With the latest installment of Pro-Tools and Adobe Audition and a few other goodies I've started to build a small recording studio. A few customers here and there.
What you guys do?

Depends on where you live. 2 of my good friends have been full time DJs for 10+ years (no mobiles, just clubs). They are very happy. One thing you learn as a full time DJ is that you don't undercharge.
I'm an opening DJ about 6 hours a week, a full night DJ 2 nights a week, the rest of the time I do lights. It works out to about $35,000 a year. That's 25 hours a week, most people working regular jobs work 40 hours to make less. I could live on that, but I have 2 kids of child support and a needy ex wife. I own my own computer business and work another 10-15 hours a week freelance at $85-100 an hour so it works out nice and I sleep till noon every day.

Sleep till noon everyday???? Man I need another day job to go along with my DJ
But that is true about undercharging.... Which I think I comfortably do because of my full time day job.
I also have 2 other DJs under me that I pay VERY well. If we take on a full gig I usually make sure they are both sufficiently taken care off, even if that means I go home with just gas money. Maybe one day I'll become big time I can charge $1,000.00 per gig and I can walk home with the good money to.

I used to work at Promo Only. Now I run my DJ company full-time. I do sales and planning for corporate gigs and weddings, and manage 23 DJs. I spin 3-5 days per week. 2 bar gigs plus weddings and other random gigs. Can't see ever going back to a 9-5.

I don't actually own the company, I am the Director of Operations (aka #2 in line). We charge what we charge and the DJs are all 1099 contractors. Pay is based on talent, versatility, experience, and other factors.

I work for a architectural firm it's interesting but need more of a challenge. I am also managing the whole import/export division side of the business. The only thing I like about it is the hours 7am-3pm Mon-Thurs and no weekends.
The bad thing is that now a days I cant wait to get the fuck outta here I got clocks with different times zones and can see the time anywhere I turn to in my office, making my day much slower and longer. FML

I work at a Radio station full time by day (Have to make my college degree earn its money back) and then DJ Thurs - Saturday. I like the idea of keeping it within the music/entertainment industry somewhat, keeps me interested, although Ive recently switched from the production/onair side (I worked that through college, and their was no full time work avaiable) to the sales side which Im not feeling too much. I make about 60-65k a year which is pretty damn good for a 24 year old in this economy.

I got lucky because everybody in the office knew I was a dj, and when they threw a party it was a no brainer for them to holla at me.. When we started talking money, I just thought to myself "why not comp my rent?" It's a win for the property manager, because they aren't having to spend any cash on a DJ, and they let the employees of the complex stay there free anyways, so it's kinda like I work here... I just worked out a deal to where every appearance gets me a months free rent.
I'd recommend finding out how many units are leased, and if they're not at or near 100% show them how booking you to dj events for their property can and WILL fill up all of the units (or at least get them more leases than they have) lol
Summers gonna be long one, let me know how it works out for you dude!

I work for an environmental consulting firm during the week, doing graphic design and marketing.
I also DJ at a big Casino every Saturday and some Fridays, and pick up other random gigs here and there on a weeknight or an off Friday. I had a 3-year residency at a big club in Seattle, but the owners sold it recently and the new owners have left it dormant. There went my rad holiday bookings! I am not really networked with most of the promoter crews now since I had been exclusive there, and an employee of the venue itself. So I am on the grind again for profile gigs.
I would love to get into either radio mixing or video remix production, and will do so one of these days. My oldest kid is starting middle school and the wife just started a new job, plus I am balls-deep in Ableton tutorials right now, so it may be a few before I reach these goals lol.

No threadjack: @johnnym when i was a kid my grandmother owned a resturant with a juke box in it. I was totally amazed and fascinated by that thing. I used to make 5 bucks a day busing tables as kid and i would spend 1 dollar on the jukebox everyday. Keep in mind it was .10 per song in the 1970's

No threadjack: @johnnym when i was a kid my grandmother owned a resturant with a juke box in it. I was totally amazed and fascinated by that thing. I used to make 5 bucks a day busing tables as kid and i would spend 1 dollar on the jukebox everyday. Keep in mind it was .10 per song in the 1970's
so ten songs a day?

(con't No Threadjack) @craigmac - My father used to bring me to the barbershop for my 1st cuts, and I was always crying. They used to start up the Jukebox to hold my attention. Watching the mechanism put a record on the platter and make music totally shut me up. It was a jukebox like this --->> elitechoice.org. I was mad when they started making the ones which didn't show the mechanisms.

Man jukeboxes used to almost seem magical to me. I would be totally captivated by that thing (the ones with the 45's of course).

Systems analyst / in-house help desk for a TV commercial broker.
$24/hr, full benefits, paid vacation/sick time/ personal days.
It was hard finding any IT work for the last year and I was working for a company that cleans, trashes out, inspects, does minor lawn work, etc for Bank of America's repo homes. Some of the dirtiest work I've ever done. Dead animals in the house, human feces on the floor, mold, etc. All for a whopping $12/hr with no benefits. So happy with my new job now :)
All my DJ work has been mobile, mostly weddings.
