Firmware update an BAD time

I submitted a help request but am posting it here too in case someone has experience with this issue.
Feel free to comment.
Hi.
I was playing last night at the club and out of nowhere, itch said it was doing a firmware update. itch said not to disconnect the hardware.
The firmware update took a loooong time and of course I was not able to do anything during the update. The track I was playing continued to play but I could not do anything but let it play out to the end then.....Silence. All the lights on the NS7 lit up and it took it sweet time finishing the update (about 15 minutes).
I was not connected to the Internet at the time. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. Both times were within the past month and neither time was I connected to the internet.
HOW DO I STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING and WHY IS IT HAPPENING... (Not yelling, just getting frustration out)

DAMN! thats scary, perhaps you tried to do a firmware update at some point and it never took properly. So it keep trying to finish.

Makes sense but that isn't the case. I did a firmware update about 6 or 7 months ago and it went through fine.
This is a weird, troublesome issue. 2 firmware updates within 1 month and both updates when I am NOT connected to the internet. Both times it happened during live shows.
I have NOT downloaded v1.7 so whatever is going on has nothing to do with the beta.

Don't you have to click on "ok" to confirm the firmware update? Also.. how comes you are using a new software version and have not tried it at home before you're taking it out on your gigs? If you had tried it at home, Itch should had updated it at home.

Did you read what I wrote? I said I have NOT downloaded v1.7 so whatever is going on has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BETA...
Yes... You are supposed to click on confirm firmware update. As I said before, IT JUST STARTED UPDATING THE FIRMWARE all by itself in the middle of a live at the club set. I was NOT in the set up window. I was NOT connected to the internet. I was NOT using a new version.

I am not sure what you are referring to. I did not mention nether 1.7 nor a beta.
Okay, I have never heard this happening before. Until now I thought that Itch will always ask you for your confirmation before it starts doing a firmware update.

1.7 is the only new software version. What in my post made you think I was using a new version? What made you think I used something untested?

First of all, drop your attitude.
Second, you did not mention any version number at all.
Third, you may not know this, but there were Itch versions before 1.7. So it could have been 1.5 or any version before.
The reason why I assumed you were using a new version was that out of nowhere Itch tried to update your firmware. This usually will only happen if you are using a new software version.
That's why I thought you used a new version and probably untested.

No attitude. It was a legit question. I wanted to know what I had said to make you think I was using a new version that I did test.

As far as versions go, I don't know if you can download an earlier version of serato. I assumed that by me stating that I was NOT using 1.7, one would come to the conclusion that I was using a current version.
Perhaps I should have been more clear. I am and have been using 1.5. I still have not loaded 1.7 (beta). I have been using 1.5 since it was released. I have not had any updates to the software and the ONE firmware update that was valid, serato informed me that a firmware update was available when I went to the set up screen. I clicked the button to update, serato asked for confirmation, I confirmed and the firmware updated. That was months and months ago.
This issue that I had was very different. I was not in the set up screen, I was not connected to the internet, I did not click anything, I did not confirm an update. I have not made any changes to software or hardware and it happened twice in a months time span.
