Flashing warning when a deck goes from REL to INT

msoultan 9:44 PM - 23 March, 2010
I thought it would be really handy if a deck flashed brightly or the screen flashed (or something obvious) when a deck goes from REL to INT. I don't know how many times I fail to notice that a control CD has ended and the mix inevitably starts to slip. Something like this would come in really handy because it's not very obvious on the CDJ itself.

Thanks!
Mike

+1, I do this a lot and then spend a while messing with the vinyl trying to figure out why it won't go back on beat before I realise whats happened.

A warning when your control vinyl/cd is near the end would be perfect!
Maybe even flash the waveforms or something.... or flash the control signal bar white and grey

No control = look on the screen and you will see it has switched to int mode.

Unfortunately it's not that obvious when you're moving around quickly and don't look at the screen very often. Some kind of obvious indicator would be very helpful to bring your attention back to the computer so you know to start the deck up again.

So how would blinky blinky help you when you don't look at the screen?
msoultan 4:04 PM - 4 April, 2010
Because when I glance back at the screen to check the time or the song position, if I were to see a warning indicator (such as the INT and REL buttons blinking), I would be much more likely to notice that the control CD ended and restart the deck so I don't get caught in the middle of a mix. I don't always notice it with the current setup, so that's definitely a problem. I'm not the only one that has this issue, so I think this would come in handy for me and others. Thanks for your support!

Well, I immediately recognize it when it was switched to INT - because I lose control.

For me: less blinky please.

Hopefully if it is ever implemented, they keep it optional so you're not overly distracted by the blinky

you know how there's a red blink around a deck if you set the song color to red? Well, i think there should be one that just turns white. Something you can see out of the corner of your eye.

Yes it can be very annoying nik39... if you look at the screen all night...

I would hope it could be a pretty obvious indicator (and as obnoxious as possible) because the red/gray indicator bar is far from obvious as I end up running the decks run into INT much too often without ever noticing it. And having the decks spinning and active is a pretty mission-critical aspect that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Nice. :) So now that we know that you don't look at the screen - what's ht purpose of having a visual indicator then?
msoultan 8:25 PM - 5 April, 2010
maybe he was saying you shouldn't be looking at the screen so much...
Laz219 10:02 PM - 5 April, 2010
Nik- I always notice it when I get no response as well but a lot of the time it takes a little longer to pick up what's happened and switch it back, which wouldn't happen if when I checked the deck it was highlighted so I knew at a glance that's what it had done.

I don't like the idea of it blinking, some kind of noticeable highlight would be good though.
msoultan 10:10 PM - 5 April, 2010
I think if both REL and INT were highlighted - that might be a handy warning indicator.

I would opt for blinking because I want to make sure I *always* have my decks spinning, and as long as they're spinning, they'd never be flashing... but I'd be willing to give it a try and see if a highlight would be enough

Genious.

Maybe even the time left on each deck then we can plan out what we're going to do? The solutions are endless!
