I was mixing a set. It was the last song of the wedding and they asked me for a new usher song. I dragged it over to the second deck to preview it while another track was playing on deck 1. When it got put on deck 2 the song playing on deck 1 shut off for like 6 seconds screen froze and the mac mouse went into the busy symbol. The song started for half a second on and off for another 4 seconds and then started playing again. When I went back on the mouse it started making white squares over the scratch live screen and then everything went back to normal. This is the first time this has ever happend and I use this mac all the time with scratch live. The only thing new in the equation is a newly installed 640 gb internal hard drive.

Hello Ajaym,

I've never heard of such behavior but I would first make sure every file you've imported into your SSL library has been analyzed.

I suggest clicking the 'rescan id3 tag' option in the lower left corner of the 'files' window. (The 'files' tab is underneath the right virtual deck)

This will calculate what tracks have been analyzed and which ones haven't been.

After its done scanning, click the 'analyze files' tab found on the far left of the SSL screen when the Rane hardware is disconnected.

Once all tracks have been analyzed look thru your library and delete any files that have a corrupt file icon next to them that looks like a cd with a crack down the middle.

It is very important that you get rid of ANY files that have the corrupt file icon next to them. Know that even if you never play the corrupt file(s) it can still crash or freeze your setup.

The other culprit could have been that your computer was starting to overheat.

Keep an eye on it and let us know if it rears its ugly head again..
