my right platter on my vci-300 just started today to drift. I'll have my hand on it for example scratching and i wont take my hand off but somehow the waveform will jump to random spots without taking my hand off. It's not a touch sensitivity thing either.

Hi Gonzo89,
Do you mean as you scratch, the waveform will drift slightly ahead or behind, or is the playback jumping to completely random spots in the song? How far is it jumping on average?

not completely random spots in the song but lets say i have the track playing and i have it stopped with my hand on it. then i move the jog weel back and forth without taking my hand off it will start to drift farther ahead or behind in the song without me taking my hand off if that makes sense? not far but enough that its making scratching impossible. i have the sensitivity adjusted so i dont think its that.

It sounds like the platter sensors inside your unit have collected a bit of dirt - this can cause the drifting you describe, to varying degrees.
Whilst some customers do fix this themselves, if you are not 100% comfortable removing the platters, I would recommend getting the unit serviced.
In the USA, give these guys a call and they will be able to help you out

or if you VCI is still under warranty then speak to the dealer you bought it from.

mines under warranty im debating if i should just try and fix it myself though if its just dirt. i dont want to have to send it in just because of that. How do i clean out the dirt myself without breaking it?

Have a search on youtube - there are a few customers who have made their own "how-to" video's which will walk you through it.
I must stress though - only attempt this if you are experienced, know what you are doing, and are confident you can do it right.
If you break your VCI in the process, you will likely also void your warranty!
