I would like to put my cds into itch but I know itch will not allow me to rip the cds. I don't want to use Itunes because some of the files get messed up. Is there another program that I can purchase to rip my cds into itch and create crates.

Hey jerri,

ITunes should be OK importing your CD's - when you say "some of the files get messed up" what do you mean exactly?

There are hundreds of programs available, both free & paid, that can rip audio from CD's. Windows Media Player can also do this, which you probably already have. Just make sure you check the settings in whichever program you choose to convert the audio into MP3 files (generally the most cross-compatible), and choose the best quality you can afford (a higher quality bitrate ie. 320kbps will create bigger files).

For creating crates, you can either do this in iTunes (with 'read iTunes Library" turned on), or directly in ITCH itself.

Thank you this was helpful but I am frustrated with getting started making crates. I love the vestax vci 300 so much! Can you give me some guidance on exactly how to use windows media player to get my music into crates. Do you have any step by step instructions. I would like to use windows media player instead of itunes. Does the vestax automatically put the bpm in for you?

Windows Media Player will only take the audio from CDs and convert it to MP3s for you. You won't be able to make crates using it - the only external software you can use to make crates is iTunes.

However, once you have imported your tracks as MP3's using media player, you can import them into ITCH and create your crates directly inside ITCH.

Just open up ITCH, hit the "files" button, and navigate to where your MP3s are. Then drag them into your library.

To manage crates, use the little "plus" icon next to the 'All' tab, and just drag and drop.

For info on crate management, check out the ITCH manual, or keep the tool tips turned on in ITCH by pressing the "?" button next to setup.

And yes, ITCH will add Bpm value for you!

Thank You, If I am going to use Itunes, is it the same procedure? This is all new to me. I am a DJ who used turntables and cds for a long time. I hope that I can get this

I finally learned how to make a new crate. My question is, I am using Itunes to put my music (from my CDs) into the crates. Does Itunes convert the music to mp3 automatically? It says i need to make the files 320 kbps and mp3. If so, how do I do this? Sorry for all the questions. Jerri

Hi Jerri,

I think by default iTunes is set to convert to AAC format. If you want to change this to mp3, you need to change the preferences in iTunes.

There is lots of info and a work through here > support.apple.com
