It was working fine this morning, not sure why it is experiencing a problem that shuts Itch down. I tried using the repair uitility in the setup and that did not work so I removed Itch completely and reinstalled and I am getting the same message.

Hi Lpineda,

Does Itch crash directly on startup? What error message do you get?

Can you please try this?
1) close all programs
2) open the 'ScratchLIVE' folder within your 'My Music' folder
3) locate and rename the History folder to old_History
4) locate and rename the databaseV2 file to old_databaseV2
5) open the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on the root of your external hd, if you have one
6) repeat steps 3 & 4
6) restart SSL and allow the library to load (it may take a while as SSL rebuilds the databaseV2 file)
7) test your system after SSL has finished loading

Does that help?
Lpineda 1:04 AM - 5 March, 2010
It says ITCH Application has stopped working.

A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I tried what you suggested and got the same message.

Ok, thanks for checking that.

Does that happen directly on startup? Did you change anything this morning (added new tracks,...)? Can you please give me your system specifications? (I.e. processor type/ speed, free/ used hard drive memory, RAM, are you using an external hd?)

Please also try this:
1) open the Serato/ Scratch Live folder
2) rename the Subcrates folder to old_Subcrates (your crates will disappear for now)
3) repeat that for your external hard drive if you have one

Let me know how you get on. :)
Lpineda 4:18 AM - 5 March, 2010
Not using an external hd, 37.8GB available of 218, 4.00 GB Ram, Windows Vista SP2, Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 @ 2.00Ghz. This happens directly at startup, I did add a file that contained multiple files...Azerus Downloads, but it was still working then. After I shut down that session, I was never able to startup again.

I just renamed the Subcrates and I still get the same message.
Lpineda 4:23 AM - 5 March, 2010
I figured it out, apparently it did not like my Azerus File so I renamed it and it came online. I will mess around and do a session and let you know.

Glad to hear you could resolve it yourself. :)
It was most probably the file and shouldn't act up again.

You might want to scan your whole library for corrupted files, as they cause most crashes. Have a look at this page for an instruction: serato.com > Detecting and removing corrupt files

Also, please undo the last steps and restore your databaseV2 file as well as your, History and Subcrates folder by renaming them back, if you haven't done so already.

Thanks for the help, but now I'm having total system crashes during playback. One minute all is working fine and then computer shuts off. Please advise.

Daniel K 11:41 PM - 7 March, 2010
Ok, did you already check your library for corrupted files?

Since when do you have the total system crashes? Since analyzing your files, or since undoing the renaming of the folder/ files?
Lpineda 2:25 AM - 8 March, 2010
Now that you mention it, after analyzing files.
Serato
Daniel K 2:53 AM - 8 March, 2010
Could you analyze your complete library and remove all corrupted tracks or did ITCH crash before? It's important to remove all corrupted tracks, as they can cause crashes without being played.
Lpineda 5:24 AM - 9 March, 2010
I finished analyzing all my files and I removed all the corrupt tracks. What basiclly happens is, I start ITCH load a track and a few seconds later my entire computer shuts down.
Lpineda 5:34 AM - 9 March, 2010
So I just tried again, here is what happens...start ITCH all is good. I load a track onto A with crossfader on B. I let it play seeing the waveform move across the screen. As soon as i slide the crossfader to A and audio starts to some out, within a slpit second computer crashes.

Ok, thanks for checking that. Please excuse me for the upcoming bunch of questions, but its important info to trouble shoot this.
Since when are you using ITCH on this computer? Are you running Vista 32 or 64?
Is really your entire computer shutting down all the time or is it just ITCH?
Running ITCH, if you click on the 'files' tab, how many hard drive icons do you see in the first column on the left?

Please try this:
1) close all programs
2) rename your ScratchLIVE folder to old_ScratchLIVE (In case you have a Serato folder, rename Serato to old_Serato)
3) open ITCH
4) add only 5 songs to your library and play with those songs only

Do you get the same crashes?
Lpineda 1:55 AM - 11 March, 2010
I've only been using it for a week and a half. Windows Vista 64. Yes my entire computer shuts down. 3 drives OS C:, Recovery D: and DVD E:. I tried renaming the Serato folder and removed Itunes from the library. I selected a single track from it's file location and the same thing happens Total crash! Please help. I really like it as I've gone back and forth on whether I should purchase the NS7, but it hasn't been fun with all the troubleshooting.
Lpineda 2:08 AM - 11 March, 2010
Tried it again and the same thing happens!

Ok, that sounds like a driver problem.

Can you please check your NS7 driver version? You should find it in one of these locations:

Location 1: Go to “Start” menu > “Control Panel” > Double Click the “Numark USB Audio” record icon. See “Driver Version” inside the panel (Example: 2.8.24).

Location 2: Later driver versions also place a Control Panel link in the Start menu’s Program list. Go to, ”Start” > “All Programs” > “Numark” > “NS7 Control Panel”. See “Driver Version” inside the panel (Example: 2.8.24).

Let me know which version you have.
Lpineda 2:52 AM - 12 March, 2010

I'm sorry that your setup is not working straight of the box, which it should. That is a rather rare case. I'll try to get someone from Numark to jump in here as well.

Can you please try using the new 2.9.9 beta driver in the meantime? You'll find all information on this page: serato.com
Lpineda 3:45 AM - 12 March, 2010
trying now

Daniel K 4:38 AM - 12 March, 2010
Yes try that. Please also check if you can play tracks in offline mode without the NS7 being connected.
Lpineda 5:03 AM - 12 March, 2010
that seems to have worked, I will continue to test.

Hello 2.9.9 is the recommended driver version for 64 bit operating systems, please also make sure you apply the firmware update included with the 64 bit package for best performance.

Daniel K 9:39 PM - 14 March, 2010
Yes, test it and let us know if you run into any snags.
Lpineda 6:35 PM - 16 March, 2010

Lpineda 6:35 PM - 16 March, 2010

Lpineda 6:38 PM - 16 March, 2010

The 64 bit package is here www.numark.com inside is the folder "NS7 F/W 1.03"
Lpineda 2:09 AM - 20 March, 2010
firmware has been updated. Any ideas why i can't hear the playback when the NS7 isnt on or plugged in.

sbangs 7:12 PM - 21 March, 2010
With the unit turned off you should switch to internal mode which will use your built in sound card for preview.
Lpineda 11:47 PM - 27 March, 2010
Thanks, there was a volume knob that I found and thats why I couldn't hear anything.

Now I have an issue with certain tacks not working in Itch. They play in ITunes, but for some reason not in Itch. The XML file is updating in ITunes. Any suggestions?

sbangs 1:31 PM - 29 March, 2010
Perhaps they are not DRM free? If they where purchased before summer 2009 you may need to pay apple to unlock the files.
Lpineda 3:23 AM - 30 March, 2010
they are from my record pool, just downloaded a few days ago.
Lpineda 3:26 AM - 30 March, 2010
other tracks play, also from record pool, but these don't

sbangs 3:19 PM - 30 March, 2010
I would suggest contacting the provider as these sound like corrupt files.
