i bought this software because i use my itunes library when i dj. I was using megseg before but from what i read about itch it looked to be compatible with itunes.IT"S NOT! I cannot not use any new purchases unless i convert them to a acc or mp3 file and the shutdown itch and restart it again. I cannot do while i am playing. I was under the impression i would be able to do this so if i was importing a new song into itunes while I was running itch i would be able to play that song after it was done being imported.Need some help or this new software will not work for me.
BTW The Meg Seg software allows you to import new songs while its running!! This becomes very helpful for a mobile dj like myself, very rarely do i get a request that i don't have or can't get via. Itunes.

Hi Jim.
It should be fine with iTunes.

However, you are using a very old version.
Can you please download the new beta version of ITCH from here:
serato.com

Make sure you read over the Beta rules and guidelines - but this should fix the issue.

Let me know how you get on.

I am able to get my recent purchases from itunes 9.0.2,but when itch is up and running any new songs I import into itune wont update in itch unless I go to setup and uncheck itunes library then check it again,or close itch and open it again both, (Resulting in silence). Not what i as hoping. I want to be able to play whatever I buy from itunes without sutting down itch to update my itunes library. ANY HELP?

You mean you run both iTunes and ITCH at the same time?

As a rule of thumb with software you should never open two programs at once that share library information, there can be data issues or even data loss.

If you make changes in iTunes and then close the program, do they show in ITCH?

I open itunes just to download a song then I close itunes, but it doesn't show up in the itch itunes library unless I uncheck the itunes library in the setup box then check it again or close itch then reopen it.

That would probably be the case. ITCH reads the iTunes library, but they aren't constantly updating each other, there needs something to trigger a re-read of the library.
I would warn you that you can possibly corrupt data, files or more with the use of these two programs open at the same time. So if you are going to continue to do this, be warned. We always say not to use other software open when running ITCH.

Hey Matt,

If itch is looking at the itunes library for its source of music then I would think it should be able to update without closing it. I have been using this software at home.
Opening itunes while itch is running has not been a problem, I have even purchased new music from itunes whileitch is running and have not had any issues.I am not playing music from itunes I'm only using it to purchase new music for my library.

iTunes may or may not update the xml file on the fly.

Please don't continue to open both programs at the same time, data corruption, lost files, or confused databases can easily occur.

If you are running with no problems doing this however, feel free to continue.
