Hey -
So I'm just running with a Macbook and the NS7. Been starting to get more curious about samplers, etc. Kind of curious what people are using in conjunction. KAOS pads? Sample boards?
Are there any Mic/Soundboard combination things that I could get samples for drops & mic use?
I'm just curious how to expand on my NS7 capabilities really.
Thanks

Thanks. I think I'm going to take the plunge and purchase this software with a MIDI controller.
Anyone know what's the best MIDI controller to get that has more then 8 pads but portable?

Disregard. The Nano has 12 pads so I think I will go with it. Definitely portable...

spazz also look into the nanoKontrol if you want to use something like ableton later the sliders come in handy

eBay is your friend... Hardware samplers are cheap and look good.

If I understand correctly the ITCH business model, this isn't going to happen.
Maybe a new, totally different product line could be paid SW, but not ITCH.

hardware sampler is the best!
i have a 1 gig card in my sp 404... u have 12 sample pads with 8 different settings .... plus microphone effects and ting..
i have one bank with 5 tunes on the pads...
when my itch software has a problem ... i can restart my laptop and play some tracks on my sp 404.... i know some friends which do crazy mixes only with such a unit!
i love this ting...!
if itch will release samples i will not use them anytime...

[quote but I still think that a hardware sampler offers many more possibilities/quote]
for the same reason i would choose a vfx-1 over any outside effects unit . there is actually Less possibiliteis to me in an external sample.
1. not intergrated with itch.
2. not able to include in recorded sessions
3. uses are set in stone. software based sampler can add more feature without having to buy the 303 or 303 or 505 or 606 to get new features
ITCH will not cost but you may need to buy a controller which again is what i would rather spend for for the reasons above

kraal I record from the soundcard of my pc to a multitrack. So I'm good on that front. Your other points are valid however we don't know if or when this sampler is coming. I need to do triggering right now.

spazz -- triggering jingles and such the kueit/soundplant solution is the best. just saying paying 300-600 for a stand alone sampler isnt the best move. i mean getting virtual dj is cheaper.

my main point is like always consider the cost. research research research. and bottom line get what works fpr you

i think you are missing my point.... i personally would pay the money if it were part of the ITCH package.... but looking at this forum recently i think i am the only person who choose to get itch based on what ITCH is and intergrated hardware software solution. so my opinion is prob different than most

what i am seeing can already be done in itch now without the sampler

spazz

Agreed. Not looking to go that route.

yea it would take flash gordon to load tracks and add them that fast to a mix without sampling, at least by my initial thoughts... maybe in actual practice it can be done now with Itch but a couple of the moves def not.

Yes, you can do that using the cue buttons , but with some limitations(the size of the buttons, polyphony).
not a big deal
If you only want to trigger voices or effects over the music or do some loops, the software sampler is the best solution,
i think hardware and software are equal for that feature
Sit in a chair on a stage and play songs live, modify, add patterns, effects, create new songs, etc.
loop a song, and do scratch or back spin with acapellas over the music with the two platters. (actually I do this with my Kaoss Pad 3).
have you ever used the virtualDJ sampler? all that can be done plus have it change as you change the pitch sliders ect
again i see a sampler intergraded in the software much better than any stand alone unit

actually it would be quite simple......dig deep into the features of ITCH the solution is right there at your finger tips :)

at how fast the track loads, if you had some compact playlists, memorized cue points, and set up all the loops (you can have up to 9 loops saved) seems pretty doable.
i'm workin on somethin atm so i'd love to see your video Kraal, new to my ns7 so not totally familiar yet.

i think kraal's idea is to record (sample) parts of songs and create a playlist that way he would play the play list of samples to create the mix// its nice but not sampling cuz they still have to load nevertheless its a cool idea!!!

@Kraal, did you ever get around to making that video? I'm really interested in seeing it.
