Biggest song of the night on Friday
Brigid
11:56 PM - 3 September, 2009
You know I played a gig on Friday to a 70% female crowd, and I spent ages trying to figure out what they wanted to hear because they were all over the show. Funnily enough, hands down the biggest song of the night was a tie between Warren G - Regulate and Bow Down by Westside Connection.
Does this ever happen to you guys? You pull out all your big guns, but the old favourites always win when you play them? What are the biggest songs for you guys right now?

Sometimes you have to quit trying so hard...I have tried so hard sometimes until I finally just throw something on that I normally might not have thought of...and the floor takes off.
How was your floor after this?

I can fix your situation with 1 suggestion man. You gotta get out there and talk to some people. If you can find some girls to go around for ya with a clipboard and hook em up with some drinks or free prizes, shirts, glowsticks, etc. A good DJ always has somethin to give away even if it's mixes or whatever. They love glow sticks, I buy cases of em year round to give away. It's an investment but it pulls people towards teh floor. They start comin up and askin for em and then you break the barrier and ask em what they want to hear. Then they will feel comfortable with you and come back up. People will ask them later where they got them and send them ur way. Try this and you won't go wrong. You can hit me up in in a few weeks and say thanks. Try it out man.

Those are deff. some good tracks. My friday night crowd is also about %70 female. My most requested and best track that makes the girls go nuts is "Bulletproof" by La Roux.

that's a great track but i personally use the tiborg club mix that one really works aside the original. Another big one that always works with ladies is taio cruz break your heart and dynamite by taio cruz which is currently not on wl yet but blowing up on stations everywhere. Last week it was 2 live crew shake that azz bitch lol..any miami bass track always works in FLA.

I think this could be a good thread to keep going. We all study our music and I'm always trying to find somethin I've never heard before. The past 3 or 4 weeks, I think that.........LIKE A G6 by Far East Movement has been killin it, and Electronic Music - Sean Kingston, OMG (Oh My God) - Black Eyed Peas, Alright - Pitbull.
I could go on and on tho cuz I only get 1 weekend off a year, and I've been that steady for 7 years straight. It's my full time job to find the right music for the crowd, and I like songs that some don't even know, but the beat is there so they'll still dance and even come up to ask what track I'm playin.

Yeah I agree, it's a great song, but I think Mr. Walker was meaning to say that it's not by the Black Eyed Peas, it's by Usher & Will.i.am.

Yeah i was wondering why you were saying it was by the Peas... sorry, that's a peeve of mine. I mean as hot as the track is, it surprised me to see the wrong name of a track by a DJ. i wouldn't say "All About the Benjamins" by Notorious B.I.G.

Yeah that's my bad, I didn't get much sleep. trust me I don't usually mess that kind of stuff up. Mo Money Mo Problems got em going pretty good a couple of times. Same with the DJ Kool Clear my Throat, and Murder She Wrote depending on the night. If it's ladies night it tends to be the chorus that the girls go crazy for. When it was a Saturday, I tried Nelly - Ride Wit Me and the crowd loves to all join in......hey....must be the money!

I'm in Cali, so any Cali classics will do the trick to pretty much any type of crowd. I caught the crowd off guard and I mixed in "Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground and the crowd went bananas on the dance floor.
It was hilarious seeing some of the people trying to do the humpty dance...
First I limp to the side like my leg was broken
Shakin' and twitchin' kinda like I was smokin'
Crazy wack funky
People say ya look like M.C. Hammer on crack....

The One by Mary. Not a horrible cut, but I wish this song would go away (it DOES pack the floor up nice though).
Looks like it'll be a crowd pleaser for years and years to come.

Never go wrong with Old School.. But yes the key is talk to people, but don't forget the power of the mic... I mix and scratch my ass off and play everything you can imagine.. but what gets the crowd going is YOU... if you are blowing fire, breaking balls, juggling vinyl, displaying the most energy in the club and keeping your selection all over the place like peoples attention span, you WIN. It's me that get's the club going, the music is the icing on the cake. Every crowd is different...Be the Club my friends, Be the Club
