How can I use Loop roll on my NS7 Hardware ?

vestaxxer 11:14 AM - 24 July, 2009
Is it true that only vci-300 users can control this feature via hardware ?

Kmxorbit 1:40 PM - 24 July, 2009
yup, NS7 via keyboard only
vestaxxer 1:48 PM - 24 July, 2009
got to write that in my review ;)

Numark
Chris Roman 2:07 PM - 24 July, 2009
Numark has requested Serato make this feature available in the hardware as well. We expect a future release of Itch will accomodate.
DJ Quartz 2:52 PM - 24 July, 2009
Cool, good to know.

Can we take a poll on which button presses will be most ergonomic?

maybe wait till it's in beta and then suggest a change if nessesary?
only reason i say that is i have seen some of the suggestions by some of the people on this board and well.... some are just crazy :)

* Loop Roll
New looping effect where the playhead jumps back to normal time when you release the loop. This is available on the keyboard using ctrl+alt and the '0' - '9' keys. It can also be accessed on the VCI300 by using 'Shift' and the 'Autoloop' button.

BTW, Loop Roll is only on ITCH v1.1 (not on v1.0.5).

I dont know why builders of Hardware like the NS7, which is really not peanuts cheap, do not impement a few spare buttons for upcoming features/updates. I have it here for a review, although its a nice controller, i do NOT want to use a keyboard with it.
KLH 7:07 AM - 25 July, 2009
I'll bet we'll get the answer to that by the end of the year...

vestaxxer 7:52 AM - 25 July, 2009
Yes, pay another 400 Bucks for an FX Controlller ;)

Come on, we're worth it.

DJ Quartz 3:19 PM - 25 July, 2009
Or since there is an extra connector underneath the mixer plate, there could be an add-on with a new plate possibly.
kraal 3:21 PM - 25 July, 2009
still gonna cost 400.00 :)
vestaxxer 3:26 PM - 25 July, 2009
where is that extra connector ? cant find it ?
DJ Quartz 3:27 PM - 25 July, 2009
Well... midi controller + another DVS app = FREE

so .... i dont plan on using another app
DJ Quartz 3:32 PM - 25 July, 2009
You have to take the mixer plate off and there will be a socket header which you could plug something into.

@ Kraal, then you will have to pay $400, :)
KLH 3:39 PM - 25 July, 2009
While I don't want to pay more for effects in ITCH, I don't think $400 would stop ANY DJ from paying it.

Just saying... in for $1,200 in pretty pennies, in for $400 more.

kraal 3:40 PM - 25 July, 2009
yes i know..... i have no problem with that .... my wife might but hey she'll get over it :)

You too, huh... Glad to hear that I'm not alone...

DJ Quartz 4:36 PM - 25 July, 2009
Well I'm looking at time vs price. If a system already has effects and I have a midi controller that is already interfaced, just support for the NS7 needs implementation....

As I stated in previous threads, I have a different need which is a 'one-stop-shop' dvs solution because I use turntables and the NS7. I just want to switch between devices now instead of maintaining two applications. Makes no sense to me in the long run.

Since I don't have a wife to make noise, my wallet will. :). Spent enough on gear, want to keep spending on vinyl and digital tracks moreso now.
vestaxxer 9:11 AM - 27 July, 2009
But how do you use your ns7 ?
Do carry it as a mobile sloution or do you have it at home.
Well, i think it depends on what music you play and where you play, wether u need fx or not.

Has anyone actually tried this? I tried it last night and it only releases the loop for me and it releases at the end of the loop. It's basically the same button as the loop release on my NS7.
vestaxxer 5:52 PM - 27 July, 2009
well, it solid works with my revision
vestaxxer 5:56 PM - 27 July, 2009
Com on guys. Where do you use your ns7 ?
DJ Quartz 8:37 PM - 27 July, 2009
I use it at home, at gigs with bad stability conditions, radio stration and in the hotel when I'm on the road and need to practice or record a mix.
DJ Quartz 8:38 PM - 27 July, 2009
Loop roll works for me as well.
D-RoC71 8:41 PM - 27 July, 2009
Can someone post a video here on how they're using the loop roll with the NS7? I've tried it and it only release the loops for me.

thanks!!!!
DJ Quartz 9:00 PM - 27 July, 2009
Did you try using it in when the auto-loop mode is on?
D-RoC71 9:17 PM - 27 July, 2009
Quartz -
Yes. I engaged it then pressed the alt+ctl+9 and it just released the loop.
So how do you engage it?
DJ Luciano of The Beatills 9:34 PM - 27 July, 2009
I use my NS7 both at home and at the club. I used to have turntables and ScratchLIVE set up at home, but I actually enjoy using the NS7 all the time, so I made it my full-time solution. I got the Numark Flight Case and I love it. The NS7 rests snuggly in there and I take it all over with me. To me, this is my best DJ rig I've ever had as far as convenience and fun goes.

Hi D-RoC71.

Loop Roll creates a temporary 'ghost' loop, which will roll for as long as you hold the Loop Roll. The loop will roll for as long as you hold it, then jump back to where the playhead would have been in the track if you hadn't pressed loop, so there's less chance of the groove or feel being thrown out.

If you are inside a normal loop, the loop roll will just override the loop as it stands, and as you say, just release the loop when you have finished loop rolling. Try it when you're not inside another loop.
skratchworx 2:11 PM - 28 July, 2009
The original NS7 did have extra buttons, but they disappeared after a couple of prototypes. Would have been incredibly handy right about now...
vestaxxer 2:17 PM - 28 July, 2009
absolutely, !!!
Does anyone know, how many Loop/Cues the VCI-300 offers ?
Still Only three ,or ?
kraal 2:18 PM - 28 July, 2009
3 on the unit 5 including keyboard
vestaxxer 2:25 PM - 28 July, 2009

Guys, implement autosave after recording, with a timestamp...please..for the next software update +1
vestaxxer 2:33 PM - 28 July, 2009

Guys, implement autosave after recording,

you know i acatually like the fact that it doesnt autosave cause sometimes i set record and then don't like what i was doing. it's easier to just hit save to keep than to track down and delete autosaves
vestaxxer 3:08 PM - 28 July, 2009
but its uncool if you want to recors a couple of, lets say 10 scratches - and u dont want to record them in one large file - but anyway - its a matter of taste
vestaxxer 3:10 PM - 28 July, 2009
anyway , a lot of trash files on the computer is also bullshit ;)
vestaxxer 3:41 PM - 28 July, 2009
i wonder where the pitchshifter is. I remebrer that vci-300 had one, but the NS7 doesnt seem to...can i use it from keyboard ?
Kmxorbit 8:25 PM - 28 July, 2009
Ns7 has pitch shift.
3 modes adjustable from the controller: 8% - 16% - 50%. it's Pretty cool huh?
vestaxxer 9:03 PM - 28 July, 2009
Sorry, i ment keyshift, not pitch range
excusez moi

DJ Luciano of The Beatills 9:11 PM - 28 July, 2009
Key correction is directly above the pitch range button.

Its a keylock, -
look whe i use tspro i can set the beat to 125 and keep it at that tempo , but shift the key it up or down tfor 3 or 4 percent - see?
DJ Quartz 9:29 PM - 28 July, 2009
@ Vestaxxer,

I know what you're talking about. I don't believe SSL nor Itch has this feature. I used this one on of my Midas Touch mixshows to do my own dirty sourth screwed and chopped.
DJ Quartz 9:36 PM - 28 July, 2009
@ Vestaxxer,

Did you grab the 1.2 beta, because I threw my map file up.

Wheres the mapfile ? in NI-Forums ?
I take a lokk
btw, yes, got the Beta
DJ Quartz 6:51 AM - 29 July, 2009
Yeah it's on the forum in DJ Controllers,

I have start, stop, reverse, motor on/off working so far

Note: Reverse switch doesn't work in a hold fashion, you have to press down for reverse, push up and then push down and up to switch from reverse to forward rotation.

So far I'm missing these...

- Select
- Reloop
- Start Time
- Stop Time
- Pitch Range
- Mixing Cue Signals with fader
vestaxxer 9:39 AM - 29 July, 2009
is there an option to make a ranking /like stars in iTunes to the tracks in ITCH ?

DJ Quartz 8:07 PM - 29 July, 2009
If you right click on the column header there are options you can select from the drop down menu?

Are you a Traktor owner?

I recorded a quick video with my phone last night and posted a link. Check it out.
vestaxxer 2:04 PM - 30 July, 2009

Read the released updated of the latest version.. loop roll was added to the ns7 since version 1.4
Tommeij 6:02 AM - 3 March, 2010
For those who don't know yet,

Quote:
With 1.5 installed the hot cue delete button doubles up as a shift key.
You can hold this and another button on the controller to perform a second action such as loop roll. You can see the exact list of controls on the 1.5 thread.
