ITCH version 1.1.0 includes a bunch of new features for ITCH including Whitelabel.net support, scaling waveforms, key tag support, improved history function, loop roll and library sort for the VCI-300 and Instant Start for the NS7 and many other bug-fixes and improvements.

You do not need to install any previous version before installing 1.1.0. If you have ITCH 1.1.0 Release Candidate 4 installed there is no need to reinstall 1.1.0 Final, they are the same.

Whitelabel.net
After popular demand, Serato have added support for Whitelabel.net files in ITCH. Now ITCH DJs have access to hundreds releases from their favourite labels through Whitelabel.net, the Serato Whitelabel Delivery Network. Tracks will play high quality (320kbps stereo) in ITCH, with your controller connected, and low quality (32kbps mono) everywhere else.

Important Note about the VCI-300 Firmware Update
This version contains a firmware update for the VCI-300 as an optional install available through the ITCH setup screen -- however, this firmware update will stop your VCI-300 from working with earlier versions of ITCH. So we would not recommend doing this firmware update unless you have been having problems with using your VCI-300 as a sound card on windows with applications other than ITCH.


New Features and Enhancements:
* Scaling Waveforms
The Waveforms now scale with pitch to make it easier to see when beats are aligned.

* Key Tag support
Key tags are now read from MP3 files and displayed in the 'key' column in the library.

* Loop Roll
New looping effect where the playhead jumps back to normal time when you release the loop. This is available on the keyboard using ctrl+alt and the '0' - '9' keys. It can also be accessed on the VCI300 by using 'Shift' and the 'Autoloop' button.

* Recording Options
You can now select the file format and bit depth for your recordings in the Playback tab of the setup screen.

* CPU Meter
The CPU Meter below the clock shows the overall CPU usage for your computer.

* Platter Speed Option
In the hardware panel of the setup screen is an option for 33rpm or 45rpm.

* Hi-Fi Resampler Option
This option has been returned to the Playback tab of the setup screen. By default it is on but lower spec computers may run better with this option off.

* Customised Crate View
There is a new 'custom crate columns' option on the library tab of the setup screen. This option will be off by default. When this option is on, crate columns behave as they do in versions before 1.1. When the option is off (default), all crates and playlists share the same column view.

* Dead Space Elimination
When "Play from start" is selected on the setup screen, the deck will try to skip any silence at the start of the track, and play from the start of the audio


* iTunes Library Changes
- The iTunes library is now collapsible in the crate selector window. Click on the triangle icon next to the iTunes library playlist to expand and collapse the iTunes Library.

- When you uncheck 'read iTunes library' all tracks marked with the iTunes icon are removed from your library unless the track is in an ITCH crate.

- Tracks that are in the iTunes library are now not marked with the iTunes icon if they are already in the ITCH library, but they will still show up in the iTunes playlists as normal. These tracks are also not removed from the ITCH library when you untick 'read iTunes library'.

- You can also drag tracks from an iTunes playlist or the iTunes library onto the "All..." crate to mark it as permanent in the ITCH library. You can also conversely drag a track from an iTunes playlist or the iTunes library onto the 'iTunes Library' playlist to mark it as an iTunes track.


* History Panel
The History function now keeps a comprehensive record of every track played, during every gig. This replaces the old "Review" feature and is a real time saver for professional DJs who need to log their sessions.

- Tracks are only visible in history if they have been 'played'. You can view 'unplayed tracks' by turning on the 'show unplayed tracks' checkbox in the history panel. You can select a track and 'mark played' or 'mark unplayed'.

- You can double click fields in better review to edit them. Double click the session name (it is set to the date of the session by default) to give each session a name.

- You can export sessions from you history to 'txt', 'csv', or 'm3u'. To export, select a session in the history panel, choose an export format and press export. The status bar will indicate where the file has been exported to ("History Export" in your ScratchLIVE folder).

- Recently played tracks are marked green in the history panel and your library, this can be reset by pressing the 'clear' button at the bottom right of the history panel.

- Songs are marked as played based on whether the song has been played in the mix. For a song to be played in the mix the upfader must be up on that channel, the crossfader must be open and the playhead must be moving.



Changes & Bug Fixes

* You can now open the 'column chooser' menu by right clicking on a column in the track list.

* Fix so that when using braking (or start acceleration) and keylock at the same time, keylock is disengaged while braking or accelerating.

* Fixed autoloop bug where if you set an autoloop and turn it off, then half the autoloop and start it again, it would set the playhead one loop before the loop.

* Overviews rebuild from scratch if they are half done and either autogain or autobpm are not complete to ensure autogain and autobpm are correctly calculated.

* Improved sync for instant doubles.

* Change to make autoloop always set from the current playhead position.

* Fixed bug where disconnecting ITCH hardware would sometimes lead to silence in the offline player on Mac 10.5.

* Fixed selection highlight escaping off the browse screen when scrolling through it with the controller.

* Fixed bug where instant doubling on first then second deck resulted in decks having different tempos.

* Fixed bug where if a track in a crate had its name changed in itunes then on start up ITCH would keep the old song creating a duplicate.

* Fixed temporary recording file not having a file extension

* Fixed bug where instant doubles via double-click can override a locked deck.

* Fixed the right deck loop lock symbol to be red like the rest of the right deck components

* Fixed conflict that could cause crash when scanning tags

* Fix so that unlocking a loop gets updated on the other deck (if that same loop is active). This will also set the loop length to be the current length of the loop on the deck where the loop was unlocked if there is a discrepancy.

* You can now override "Lock playing deck" when loading, by holding down the platter.

* Fixed ITCH not copying position of auto loop correctly when instant doubling.

* Fix for windows drag and drop crashes

* Reanalyzing tracks now constrains bpms to the bpm range



NS7 Specific
* Instant Start for the NS7. When the start time knob on the NS7 is set low, ITCH will start playback instantly when 'play' is pressed, ignoring the spin up time of the NS7 platter. This is an option in the playback tab of the setup screen called "Instant Playback", it is off by default.

* ITCH now ignores NS7 platter spin up if doing an instant double caused a deck to start playing.

* Fixed bug where loop shift while playing in reverse could allow the playhead to escape the loop.

* Fixed loop shift to update the playhead to correct position on both decks when same song is playing on both with the same loop activated.

* Fixed tapping tempo on other deck completly losing the bpm on first deck which is currently waiting for more tap input.

* Improved stability of NS7 reconnecting and changed so that play state (play/paused) remains when disconnecting and reconnecting.

* Changed so the first 5 cue points are always set to the same colors. This improves compatibility with the VCI300 for users using both controllers.

* Fix for bug where on a track load the opposite decks bpm would go missing when repeatedly loading, using tap tempo to tap the bpm and then switching to the other deck.

* Implemented NS7 to scroll at a faster rate, when scroll knob is rotated/flicked faster.

* If a loop is halved or doubled or adjusted while locked, it will return to it's initial state either when the loop slot is reloaded or when the song is reloaded. That means the loop can still be changed while locked, but changes will not be saved. Pressing Reloop on the NS7 will also cause a locked loop to revert to it's original length.

* Fixed bug where if playing in reverse and pressing loop in/out to edit a loop point would cause loop editing to occur immediately instead of waiting until the platter was touched.

* Setting a new manual loop while in the autoloop slot will now skip to the first free manual loop slot so that the loop is correctly saved



VCI300 Specific

* New Firmware Update
This beta contains a firmware update for the VCI-300 -- however, this firmware update will stop your VCI-300 from working with earlier versions of ITCH. So we would not recommend doing this firmware update unless you have been having problems with using your VCI-300 as a sound card on windows with applications other than ITCH.

* Pressing shift+crates/files/browse on the VCI300 will sort the currently selected crate by bpm/song title/artist respectively.

* Fixed VCI-300 connection problems on 10.5.7.

* Fixed bug on Mac where the pitch sliders were not initialising correctly on start up.

* Fixed crate panel flickering when opening and closing the mic/aux panel.

* Half and Double buttons will now also halve/double standard loops when they are active. If no loop is active then they will halve/double the current autoloop value as they previously did.

* If a loop is halved or doubled or adjusted while locked, it will return to it's initial state either when the loop slot is reloaded, when the song is reloaded or by pushing the cue in button (to jump to the start of the loop. That means the loop can still be changed while locked, but changes will not be saved.

* Next and Previous track buttons are now only ignored if autoloop roll is being used, not if only using a regular autoloop.

* Fixed crash that could occur when deleting a loop using the VCI-300.

* Fixed bug where turning on scratch mode while paused and holding the platter, would result in scratching being unresponsive after releasing and retouching the platter.

* Fixed bug where occasionally the platters would scroll through the library even though the scroll button was off


Running more than one version of ITCH:
Installing this version will by default overwrite any previous version you had installed, however it is easy to have more than one version of ITCH installed if you wish.

If you have an important gig coming up, you might like to stick with the version you know until you are comfortable with 1.0.5.

Here's how to do it:

Windows:

- Before installing:
* In Explorer, go to 'C:\Program files\Serato\ITCH\'
* Rename 'ITCH.exe' to 'ITCH 1.0.5.exe'
- Install ITCH version 1.1.0.

When you install the new version, the old executable will not be deleted. If you wish to run version 1.0.5, run 'ITCH 1.0.5.exe'. You can still run two versions of ITCH if you have already installed version 1.0.5 - just rename the executable to 'ITCH 1.0.5.exe', and then reinstall the version you were previously running.

Mac:

- Before installing:
* Make sure you are logged in as an Admin user.
* In Finder, go to the 'Applications' folder
* Rename 'ITCH' to 'ITCH 1.0.5', for example
- Install ITCH version 1.1.0.


Backing up your data:

Before you make any changes to your ITCH setup, including installing a new version, as a general rule we highly recommend that you backup your data. The easiest way to backup your data is simply to copy your ScratchLIVE or _Serato_ folders to another location on the drive, or for a more secure backup in case of a hard drive failure, to external media such as a writable CD or DVD.

- For the drive that contains "My Documents", just copy the ScratchLIVE or _Serato_ folder which is in My Documents\My Music\ to another location on this drive, or a backup device.

- To back up database and crates of an external drive, copy the _ScratchLIVE_ or _Serato_ folder (which is in the root of the drive) to another location on this drive, or a backup device.

- Keep a backup of all your audio tracks. Just like any other machine, computers are never truly 100% reliable. Hard disk drives can fail without warning, and data corruption is possible even with a good hard drive when ITCH is not running.

i downloaded the final version which is build itch1.1(11025). When i load the .dmg file on the mac it shows as build itch1.1(11024). Was this a type over or did you guys load the wrong build as the final download? I havn't installed it yet bc i noticed this and i was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this too.

For the past 3 days my ITCH was taking like 20 minutes to open all the way and now I installed 1.1 and it won't open. the mouse is a color wheel that just spins and spins. the green indicator bar at the upper right corner of the screen is pinned to the red. someone please help.

honestly i think it must be a firmware thing? i didn't update the firmware because it said the vci wouldn't work with earlier versions if i did. you know? i wanted to make sure i could at least have 1.0.5 working properly right? well i think that might have been a screw up because now my s*&# is all f^*$%^&* up if you know what i mean. If 1.1 ever opens up for me again, i'll update the firmware. hopefully that will fix it.

It doesn't really sound like a firmware thing to me, and I wouldn't recommend doing the firmware update if you are having problems with 1.1 :-/ you're much more likely to get help in the support area here: www.serato.com than in this thread
(but the first thing to try is renaming your 'database V2' file and see if ITCH opens up after that)

I got a macbook with bootcamp on it and I use the Itch on the Mac but I allso use the VCI300 sometimes on the windows as a sound card for some programs and it always mad me issues.
I wanna know if I should install the firmware update and i so, can I revert it back to how it was if I'll change my mind?

NO you CAN NOT. besides i dont think that is the issue with using it as a sound card using boot camp on a MAC. do a google search on 'audio issues' in bootcamp and then see if you can track a solution through those

hey, just installed the new 1.1 version with my vci 300, i do a little scratch session and then my vci 300 freezes!
never had this before, the music keeps playing but there is NO control anymore on the vci 300
the platter i used for scratching still keeps red, no volume control (knobs & faders )

before this freeze i notice that the peak lights (trim) in the middle of the vci, freezes somethimes and this with al of the version of itch and with the new or old firmware of the vci, but the music and control stays normally

if you click on 1 of the 2 track countings, the one you've clicked will change into the opposite counting.

Any chance future updates to Itch will include some beat matching or assistance with lining up beats from one deck to another? Even though like most of us I beat match manually on Itch and other apps many of them offer this feature like VDJ and so on. I noticed a few DJ's using VDJ rely on the feature quite a bit but their mixes really were smooth even when mixing video. This feature SHOULD be able to be disabled and turn on/off when the DJ chooses. Any old school DJ is going to know how to beat mix and know how to manually line up beats. The visuals on Itch are nice but it would also be nice to be able to scale the waveforms more or allow the user more freedom on the screen with how much is used with waveforms and how much is used for text for the sound files etc.. Just some thoughts. Anyhow good job on the latest release.

Why not Buy a VDJ instead of asking ITCH to be a VDJ.

we own a NS7, Itch and not looking for Itch nor SSL to become VDJ. VDJ is only another one of MANY apps out there that offer advance beat alignment and quantization and so on. It is no longer a special feature or special when offered by any DJ app.

what kind of assistance do you need?. i mean autotempo the beat matching display in ITCH. honestly i don't think it's the feature that is making thier mixes so smooth. but it's part of the skill of a dj.

As I thought it would be the whole message was misunderstood and not comprehended but thats ok. Yes the DJ IS skilled and used VDJ often (I am friends with him) however the app has a nice feature that helps the DJ line up the beats of the outgoing song with the incoming song even if they are off by 10-15 bpm or so. It does a nice job by also keep the pitch the same which Itch does as well with changing the tempo. Itch does a nice job at showing the graphics for both songs but the DJ must line up the beats manually which in my opinion is DJing and there isn't any nudging so to speak by the program to help line them up. Anyhow I still like the program and so far find that it does a great job. I can see why many are wanting the SSL features though. Even though I use Itch I also own legal copies of DEX, Trakktor & VJ and don't use any of them anymore since I got the NS7. I also use alot of Ableton Live but that is a whole different beast and can't be compared to.

ok that is why i was asking . personally came from VDJ and don't look back. I am not sure about the NS7 but you see the vci-300 has this 'feature' you are asking about. if you press 'shift+ autotempo' the beats line up atleast the closest do. then it is a matter of simple nudging. however i think it is just as easy in ITCH to press 'sync/autotempo' and drop the beat close then nudge. again i find this easier to do on the VCI-300 than on the Ns7. You are using version 1.1 right?

Not yet, I will download for my IMAC later tonight. I love the NS7, it is VERY well made and is rock stable but didn't think there was a tempo/sync type feature with the buttons to come close. AGAIN of course I know we as DJ's need to nudge or get it close on our own and I am NOT looking for any DJ app to do the DJing for me and I actually enjoy beat mixing and lining beats up but my buddy does Video Djing twice a week and uses VDJ and really lines them up nicely with both wave forms lining up and when he transitions over on his mixer the beats are pretty lined up or say 98%. with all the work we do these days with DJ apps it is a nice feature to have the assistance from the app since we as digital DJ's are doing many OTHER stuff that old traditional DJ's don't have to do when spinning regular cd's or vinyl. I haven't seen the VCI-300 but I understand the features are the same for NS-7 and VCI-300 just different buttons for us so perhaps the feature I am looking for IS in Itch and it is ME that can't find it and not spending enough research or OFF DJ TIME on my own looking into what it really can do. Serato caught my eye with this app many months ago when I had spend thousands on other controllers and applications and I wished they had released it a year or two ago and I would have jumped on board then. Anyhow I am here to stay and hope they really run with the product and introduce some of the leading edge features that other apps are doing like harmonic key mixingk, quantization etc..

I can't see Serato taking out or offering additional features on either one unless one of them didn't have enough buttons to facilitate all the features. Have you seen an NS-7? Its huge and has MANY buttons. Put one in a Oddessy case for the NS-7 and you are close to 100lbs! My only complaint is my setup is quite large these days with the NS-7, 24" Imac on the deck and thats only the turn tables and computer. If I am spinning at a club and traveling it is almost to much. Gigs where we are the featured act and have 2+ hours to setup and plenty of room we setup a 6ft table with stuff you wouldn't believe me if I told you honestly. Anyhow sounds like you are doing just fine with the VCI-300 which is smaller in size and I can see it easier to travel with. I have the Akai MPC-40 for Ableton and travel with it when performing original stuff at venues and opening for bands. Do you take you VCI-300 to clubs?

@TF, the feature that you are referring to relies on the presence of a beat grid. The beat grid basically identifies each downbeat and the start of a measure (and assumes 4/4 time). If the DJ app knows each measure, beat, and BPM, then it can automatically beat-match two different tracks. This approach is used in Virtual DJ and Torq. As I'm not familiar with other DJ apps, I'm not sure if others use this concept.

The only danger in this approach is that phrasing isn't automatically handled. As such, beginner DJs often mix tracks so that the phrasing is off and as a result, the blends/transitions sound WRONG.

With SSL and ITCH, Serato consciously decided to NOT implement the beat-grid concept. As a result, the DJ must work a little harder to beat-match. Having used Torq and Virtual DJ, I miss the beat-grid - because it made non-beat intros EASY to mix. I hope that ITCH does get a beat-grid eventually...

You will find that most who use Serato products do not like tools that make beat-matching easier (the BPM counter being an exception). For those that embrace DJ apps that DO handle beat-matching, Ableton seems to number one tool of choice. For those that don't, SSL, TTs, and CDJs, seem to be the tools of choice.

yes i used an NS7 and I demo it at guitar center alot cause no one there knows how to use itch so my buddy( the manager) always has me come up. the difference is the vci-300 has a shift button that doubles up a lot of the buttons. I do not see the autotempo matching as a function inside of itch but a vci-300 specific thing.

as far as serato offering things for each controller it actually makes some since meaning you would want to buy the controller that works for you. if the only difference is manufacture and size then it would only be about price

the NS7 cost $1300.00 not cheap and I am not sure what the VCI-300 costs but can anyone else in this forum confirm if the feature that Kraal speaks of that can be done with the VCI-300 be done with the NS-7? For $1300.00 you would think the NS-7 would offer everything and the cheaper controllers would be the opposite. I picked the NS-7 for its spinning 7" platters they felt nice. If the software offers the sync feature then the NS-7 will have it. I do recall (i am not in front of it right now) a button that said sync or something like that but just thought Itch didn't line up or sync the two different songs or attempt it from a software stand point. You got me interested in finding out now! Where in the manual does it speak of this feature? I have the Itch manual printed out and DID read it.

BEAT SYNC is an advanced feature that will automatically align the
transients (usually the drums) in the two playing tracks. If you have
dropped your next track in but it’s not quite in time, by pressing SHIFT
+ AUTO TEMPO you can perform an automatic beat sync. When the
current track is playing on the left side press SHIFT + the right hand
AUTO TEMPO button. This will snap the right track’s beats to be in time
with the left hand side. BEAT SYNC works by snapping the two closest
transients together, this means the timing of the two tracks has to be
close before BEAT SYNC will work.

The NS-7 has a SYNC button on each deck and perhaps it is used for this. I will have to look into it. Perhaps when I asked in the past if Itch could do this i asked it incorrectly or complicated the question to the support staff. Yes MOST of these try their best efffort to line up beats but a constant drum beat and do a pretty good job but still needs our intervention from time to time to nudge as you said earlier.

From the NS-7 Manual the Sync button Automatically matches the corresponding decks tempo with the other decks tempo. Of course you would NOT want the pitch to change but are you saying that the VCI-300 DOES offer additional feature where it essentially catches the beat of the first playing song on top of matching the tempo? It would NOT be a hard feature for Serato to put into the NS-7 functionality if it has a Sync button and also many others. If the feature was created and offered I can't see them NOT offering it for the larger more expensive controller especially if it had plenty of controlling buttons to facilitate it. I could be wrong and so what if I am it would be a nice addition to add for us NS-7 owners.

the SYNC button on the NS7 does exactly what the AUTOTEMPO button on the vci-300 does. the combo of pressing the AUTOTEMPO button and the SHIFT button on the vci-300 does more :). that was one reason i choose the vci-300 over the NS7 affter using both i like the layout of the buttons and functionality better on the vci than the ns7

Well what do you know, it DOES have simular features from the NS-7 manual it has a section about Dropping a Track In. Page 20. shows the Beat-Matching features and also display and speaks about turning off the SCRATCHING features of the NS-7 instead.

look at what I speak of it does offer I believe what you are doing with the VCI-300 only different method.

let me make a quick video to show what i am saying ...

Beat-Matching Display on page 20. Apparently NS-7 uses the PITCH FADER buttons after using the sync button to get the peaks to line up (colors from both decks) the blue and orange peaks from both decks can be used like this. Perhaps the NS-7 is a more manual device for the MANUAL DJ but it DOES offer a method to get the beat matching. Maybe they wanted the VCI-300 to be a little easier or for beginners. Not saying that you are a novice by any means but it looks as if they wanted us on the NS-7 to work it so to speak! I am going to call Numark right now and read them your message above!

it appears that the NS-7 uses its platters in NUDGE mode (more manual like old school vineyl) to line up the colors. A combination of the PITCH FADER button until the peaks align and then it speaks of beat matching one the tempo is the same.

but the thing is the vci-300 also has nudge fearture. which again is a lot better than the buttons on the ns7

It appears that they want the NS-7 user to work it meaning DJ the device more than having the software to do it. I wish BOTH were available. and perhaps it will be a later feature if enough of us complain! I can see a DJ wanting the help SOMETIMES and sometimes having to work their beat matching manually to look like they are actually doing something which they are!

If in FACT what you are saying is true then getting back to my ORIGINAL message you can see what it is that I was wishing ITCH would do with my NS-7 and see why I would like that. Apparently you are telling me that you DJ's with the VCI-300 can already do it with a Shift/Tempo button both sync the tempo and beat match at the same time where the NS-7 matches the Tempo easy enough and also maintains the pitch by making sure the button is pushed but does NOT offer a button to catch the beat so to speak and beat match it. I am looking over very closely pages 22-26 or so on this issues.


SERATO if you are readying this us NS-7 users SHOULD have this feature and there is NO valid reason we don't have it if you can give it to the VCI-300. We have enough buttons for this feature to be mapped to a midi button.

I have on problem with Itch!!!

When u goin thru ur crates and u go on all to search for a song if u type ur song fast it freezes for about a minute.

So i jus type one letter and it freeze for a second and then it is good to type and search normal,

it only does that when u more form crate to "all" to type in a search

now come they havent fixed the recording issue yet. while recording if you have a song on SIDE A and you want the Same song on side B in the same spot you double press LOAD SIDE B. When doing this the record button shuts off.... might want to look in to this... another screw up from 1.1... does anyone else experience as many issues as me? that is not an issue just most dont understand the functioning. if you record you have the ability of immediatly sending the recording to a deck by hitting 'load side a or b' so you can not double tap without single tapping :)
the simple work around is to click on the track after recording the you can double tap without stopping recording

This is a bad ass feature that should work be just thought about... i know im not the only one thinking the record button shouldn't ever go off unless i tell it to... just a thought... If your a die hard fan for dj you can see why this is such a cool feature but the record button should never go off... NEVER lol

even a faster way on the VCI-300 is after you pressed the record button hit the 'tab' once (the button in the center of the scroll dial) and then you are ready to go

no this is an issue i see quite frequently... if you like to chop and screw this is the best feature ive seen for itch... but as soon at you load the same song to the opposite deck the record button stops... it should never go off... development should take a look at this for real..

it records a digital separate file... the developers should be able to just switch this in the new version of itch... again the record buttons should never go off unless it tell it to.

this happens when loading a track with the hardware controls on the VCI-300 or NS7 if the recording panel has focus, if you change the focus to the track list or crates (like Kraal has suggested) hit the tab button on the VCI-300 & your recordings will not be terminated.

I wish Itch had one 25% range or 33, Because 50% range to fast , I use 16 % it is ok for now.

I try 50% but the pitch movement is too small to get it to get the tempo right

DJ Bigdad - Freelancer is talking about VCI300 not the NS7. Before you do any adjustments and follow the users, make sure that you check their specs because they could be talking about the VCI.... You don't need to adjust the platters for the NS7.

Same problem I reported before is still in effect. I'm on a 13' MacBook Pro with 4gb of Ram and running OSX 10.5.8. I've already analyzed my music files that are set up in iTunes through playlist and I've added a few more mp3 to a few of my playlist in iTunes and those song MP3 are not showing up in ITCH and when I hit the ANALYZE button to analyze those file, ITCH wants to analyze my whole music library. How do I go about having my playlist reread or have ITCH show my playlist in full.

question... do you stop it when it tries to re-analyse?

yeah I just stop it, I have about 7000 songs on there and just don't feel like letting it analyze them all. I did once before and for a while every time I added songs to a playlist I didn't have to analyze them all, ITCH was working pretty good. But now after a month or so of working okay it's back to doing this again.

No, only newer song that I've added to a few different playlist in iTunes. But when I go into ITCH those new song that I just added is not showing in ITCH.

maybe you have to restart the comp. hmmm... maybe you need to exit itunes first if you still had that open.

Done all that, restarted, closed, reopen, check and uncheck iTunes Playlist in ITCH. Still the newer song don't show up in ITCH.

I use Itunes to to manage my music to. When I put new songs in a playlist in Itunes I have to restart Itch to see the new songs.

Yes, the songs are in iTuens and yes I've restarted ITCH and the computer itself and still the new songs I've added are not showing up in ITCH.

I have the same problem with itunes and itch so I had to stop using Itunes

The less variables are put into the equation, the better.

i guess im not the only one in the world that hates itunes... lol. i wish all the time that winamp was made for mac... the old library on one side and playlist on the other side media player that just works.. it doesnt try to think for you, like genius... it just works. and plays karaoke (with a plugin) ! in fact, my company uses winamp for karaoke. might make the jump to virtual dj though... although it will get expensive... 15 systems to run it on... and our dumb ass KJs will have to man up and learn something too.

When you have smart playlists, songs don't show on itch immediately.

Annoying bug!

I love iTunes. Make sure you have the box checked in the advanced prefs pane that says to copy all added songs to the iTunes library. Then make sure the tags are all correct and edited for brevity. I edit almost all incoming track tags because many are just too long to be seen in an iPod.

If that box isn't checked you're adding track that aren't in your library that Itch might not know how to find. Guessing.

So now all my playlist are updated and showing all my new added song in iTunes. So before I did find this solution I had posted about ITCH analyzing all my files whenever I would hit the analyze button even though all my mp3 were already analyze in ITCH before. So I went ahead and let ITCH analyze all my mp3's. So after quitting and restarting my computer a few times and running ITCH I tested to see if I hit the analyze button if it would try to analyze all my files again, but it didn't. So everything seem to be working just fine since it wasn't trying to do it all over again. But now after I did the little work around How-to Troubleshoot to fix the ID tags, I went ahead and hit the analyze button again and it's trying to analyze all my files all over again.

lets just say you have 5,763 tracks in your library... for example... and you are analyzing your files for the first time...
when you hit analyze itch will say analyzing 1 of 5,763...
now lets say it goes through 300 files and you quit itch...
when you start next time and hit analyze it might say now analyzing 1 of 5,463
the number of files should decrease every time...
if it doesnt, then the waveforms and bpms are not being saved and you have a bigger problem.

however... i dont know how it deals with itunes files... i dont use my itunes library because i never use itunes... can someone else shed some light on how itch analyzes itunes files?

Yeah am also curious about that process, as for me i do get some issues with the analasing file process. I have actually already opened up a Thread for that.

This question is for the moderators. To analyze new files without re-analyzing the whole library, all you would have to do is hit the Analyze button & command (for mac)?

just added 719 songs and all that it asked to re-analyse was the 719 songs

droc which itch version are you running?
some of the older versions had a bug where it would say the same number of total songs every time...
1.1 works like it supposed to though. hit analyze and it just does new stuff with the total number decreasing each time you hit analyze.
if it doesnt work that way, post up in the help section. serato people have to look there, they dont have to look in these threads on a regular basis.

Dave - I beta tested so I've had this issue for a while but didn't really care as much cause I'll play the songs immediately for cueing so I really barely use the analyze button.
I'm using the latest version they have and it's flawless except for that analyze button. But I think it might be working now, I would just have to check it out again.

thats a lot to do at once... i'd suggest you download scratch live just for the analyze process... it does 4 at a time instead of 2. :)

Ok, I think I've encountered a funny bug with the loop roll on Itch 1.1 (using NS7).
When pressing Alt+CMD it works on numbers 1 through 7 and on 9 but the "8" keys is dead. The funny thing is that the "8" key is working while setting and triggering cue points, but not on loop roll.
Is anybody else experiencing this or could it be something wrong with my MacBook?

Loop roll with 8 key works for me on OSX 10.5.8 and itch 1.1.

I am having a problem with my VCI300 after the update, the channel faders do not work anymore, no increase or decrease in volume just completely cuts off music at the bottom, any help would be great.

maybe a discussion in the help forum would be the thing to do... also... make sure your fader curve dials in the front are in the right spot for you and the trim knobs are up enough... around straight up should be good for most tracks. make sure the Thru switch on the back is not on.

no, it skips 2 (as it should), so it seems it's just not reacting on the 8 key. I guess I have to test on another mac just take make sure it's just not my machine...

For the 8 key not working, you might have the key selected for a shortcut for your operating system.

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard... and turn off the keyboard shortcut for 8.

We're only LESS than 4 weeks away from the beginning of the 4th quarter. 4 to 12 weeks from now is in my mind only a few more weeks. Serato doesn't necessarily need to issue betas before a new version ships. I believe it will happen next month. They need to get the VFX-1 selling and 2.0 is part of that package. Now that Snow Leopard is out and Windoze 7 right around the corner they should be ready to ship once Microsoft does their launch mid October.

Hello! I am really shocked!!! Please help me! After the installation of firmware upgrade (it was done with no problems) and ITCH 1.1.0, the overall performance has dramatically dropped. Before the installation of 1.1.0 it was 1.0.4 (10429). The configuration of notebook and software is absolutely the same. But the loading time of the tracks now is very very slow. When the track plays, it's impossible to open a second track. Laptop almost freezes. I have tried the new installation of Windows XP, but it does not help! Can you help me to downgrade the firmware and roll-back to 1.0.4? Please!!!

Not working. I have tried a new installation of Windows XP, new installation of ITCH. The performance is afwul. And I can not roll back to 1.0.4 because I have upgraded firmware. I have described everything here - www.serato.com I guess I need a firmware downgrader or something.

I'm using ITCH with a new MacBookPro. I did install the new Itch upgrade and I can't save my crates.
I created 5 crates with maybe 10 songs each, and when I closed ITCH and reopen the program my crates don't show. I when to my harddrive and ICTH is not creating back up data base or crates. With my PC and the old version is not a problem but with the new upgrade on my Mac Pro is not working Please help me with this.

autotune doesnt fix poor singers... you would have to refine the effect so it sticks to the key of the song...

I was playing at house party last weekend and.,..
1. Itch doesn't work on resolution lower than 1024x700 and of course the Netbook which we have to use had max resolution 1024x600... Stupid thing, i was concerned about his CPU power, but this? how silly is that?
Someone bring his own laptop and we finally start.

2. Of course crash. System crashed, deck was still playing and mic was on but reset of laptop was needed.
Thats why its good for bedroom not for a parties. Too much implications.

I have a funny feeling it's a low spec laptop yet Itch is getting blamed.

I had few crashes on my desktop which is good enough to handle every game on mid-high level of details.
But crash on mine is usually few seconds and then its working again.
Specs of laptop? 2GB ram and some DuoCore I don't really remember. Maybe it was because of lovely Vista - who knows.

But the thing is where is new version of ITCH?
Can someone Clarify is Numark NS7 working with their Virtual DJ or not?

I've got CoreDuo 3.16Ghz and 4GB of ram, WinXP 32bits and lovely Win7 - 64bits.
And this 64 bits are another problem because Serato Engineers cant handle the problem of transition into 64bit system. So I am forced to keep old XP - which doesn't see my ~ 0,6 GB of RAM - because of 32bit addressing in XP.

Sorry. I just said that Itch and a game manage the memory and processor differently. However, your computer is above specifications and should work fine. Maybe you have other problems. For example, to use your computer to play games or run other programs. You know that all the people recommends to use the computer only for Itch. :)

And Yes I'm using the Final Ver. of ITCH as a matter a fact I'm beta testing the New 1.5 it looks pretty solid to me I've used it a couple of times during my gig.

I'm using My laptop solely for the purpose of Djing with ITCH, and install all the Vista Updates which I think is necessary.

In regards with Windows 7 I don't think it is fully supported by the developers of ITCH. So I'll wait on that one.

ps.2 PC is not a console or dedicated system and one of the reasons why we are buying one - multitasking - gives me an option to use it as much for games as for sound engineering or programming at once or one after the another.

Pro audio and gaming are two completely different beasts.

In fact, like visual editing, pro audio is one of the most intensive functions you can put your computer through, and to completely honest, having high amounts or RAM or a high clock rate CPU won't matter if you have system conflicts, bloatware, DPC latency issues, poorly developed manufacturer drivers for your system components (soundcard, monitor etc), and you haven't streamlined your machine for pro audio performance.

I am not trying to pass the blame here, I am just saying that to run ANY pro audio program in a performance level environment, you need to set your computer up so it is streamlined for audio use. (Feel free to search on many other pro audio sites, they will say the same thing about their products).

This explains the need for very very good drivers for audio, something that many many many PC computers DON'T have going for them (this is where Apple really excels, their drivers are excellent).

Our hardware partner Numark are taking their time with driver for the NS7 - because they want to make it perfect, pro audio performance is something that users expect to be rock solid, which is why we have said hold tight for upgrading things, and have always shown the minimum specs and told users that the beta drivers are just that, beta drivers.

As for your crashes, often these are simply conflicts, or corrupt music files etc.

Yes it should work, maybe not 100% Perfect but with the new 6.0.3 alot of the issues were resolved.

Meh me got used to Itch, yes theres still alot of fonctions i miss from VDJ, like the File Manegement but i rather have something bulletproof for GIG's as Itch is TOP NOTCH.

I am sorry if I am repeating a previously discussed topic about the 1.1 upgrade (this discussion is MIGHTY LONG)...but is anybody else having SEVERE issues with the tempo control in ITCH 1.1? One of my primary genres is House music and blends are everything...from time to time the wave will jump and I lose my sync...sometimes I can blend perfectly, sometimes ITCH takes a few trys. I never had this problem with my previous version(s). BTW I am running ITCH on 2 different laptops: A newer Macbook and a Dell studio xps running Vista. I have the same issue on both machines. I use the VCI 300. Will this be fixed in the next update? Is this a real problem or am I imaging things?

long time scratchlive user and new to itch...just got my vci last night. One of the things that I noticed is there is talk of 1.3/1.4/1.5 etc. beta but the download section only takes you to 1.1. Mods, you might want to either update the downloads section or give a brief explanation of what version everyone should be using. As of right now, seems a bit confusing.

phil 1.1 is the latest release so that is of course the one you SHOULD be using.... but the betas are in the forum area

1.5 rc1 is more stable than 1.1 in my experiences.
1.5 rc1 has never crashed on me.

forgot to mention - Received the VFX with my VCI so it came with a 1.3 driver. Loaded and everything seemed to work fine though I haven't spent much time with it. As a longtime scratchlive user, the discs that shipped with both the 57 and the SL1 were older than the latest download available on the site. Just surprised that Serato would not have 1.3 as the latest download.

Coming from the software world, version creep or many versions of a software are typically a technical nightmare for support and compatibility. Am I missing something? Why isn't 1.3 or 1.4 considered the latest release?

for the exact reason you stated they need to make a combo version so their is not so many versions out there problem beint too many controllers needing different versions

wholeheartedly recommend that you go to 1.5. I was having a persistent crash on 1.3 that was fixed in 1.5

Release Candidate 1, version 1.5 (15044) is the best option for the VCI-300, VFX-1, NS7, NSFX & V7.

has anyone brought up the option of being able to manualy change a tracks bpm value? i have a kaoss pad and 99% of the time i find myself asking the kp to find the bpm of the track im playing, then grinding away at the tap button on my ns7 untill i can get it match the figure on the kp3, why is it that itch can be presented with far more information than the kaoss pad and yet have a significantly reduced ability to predict bpm's?

on variable bpm tracks fair enough, but even just setting the bpm on tracks i'm cueing, is so slow and annoying - if i didn't happen to own my kp3 i doubt i would use the auto sampling features at all.

for reference im using 1.1, i will be trying out 1.5b this week.

in summary:
can has more useful bpm detection and input system please?
- setting the value exactly
- better bpm detection from waveforms
- better bpm detection on the fly using tap
- make tap flash every allocated beat - pressing tap once will manually align is slightly out (happens on kp's) but since the loop controls seem to auto lock onto significant beats, im guessing there is already some kind of beat allocation going on the background am i right?

double click the bpm and you can change it manually. the BPM detection has been improved in 1.5.

however whoever said 1.5 is better at detecting beats - i haven't seen any difference, i still have extreme difficulty getting it to work out any track by Venetian snares, so it is good that i can set it manually now.

I think any tracks by Venetian Snares will be difficult for any software to detect, or even tracks by many Planet Mu or Warp like artists! They are in love with polyrhythmic, or odd time signatures.

Have you forced re-analyzing of these tracks?

and yes i know it will be more taxing for software to get it right, but that doesn't explain why my kaoss pad gets it spot on so much, and itch will still struggle with basic house tunes.

its not much of a problem for me any more because i can now set manually, but i don't know what the people who don't happen to have koass pads are supposed to do.

We discovered an issue with the BPM analyzing in ITCH. This is fixed in the later builds of ITCH 1.5 (which is currently in beta).

The BPM analyzing should now be extremely exact. However I'd say that almost all software will struggle with some certain types of music depending on their algorhythms (some might get hip hop better, some might get house, some might get breaks...).

I can confirm that BPM detection is accurate to decimals now (1.5RC1)

big big problem with the newest version of the software 1.5

i've been a vestax 300 user since last may, i'm also a serato scratchlive user since september 2006

i haven't had any problems with the 2 previous versions of the software

yesterday i downloaded the new one (itch 1.5)

browsing the history section the program istantly closed

today i was using the new version again without any other problems but when i tried again to browse the history section the software closed again

i don't have this problem with 1.2 version

I have a problem with v2.0. It's not out yet... that's the problem.

there have been several changes to the code that handles ITCH's History in 1.5

Could you please try renaming or removing the "History" folder inside your _Serato_ folder, which you can find in Users > user name > Music.

Once you have played some tracks a new History folder will be created, see if you have the same problem with this one.
