No offense, but this video is veeery boring. The most exciting thinf was when the battery went low and when you took of the SSL vinyls from the TT and rubbed it on your stomach ;) Oh and lets not forget when you raped the eqs :)
How can you record a vid, then while recording it talk with a friend, have some drinks? Doesnt give the audience the impression that you took it seriously what you did. I would at least cut that out.
Are you the guy with the ortofon logo tatoo'ed on his arm?

Dude.. How do you do it without the headphone? I assume that you have all the cue points and visual aid from SSL.
Also, it looks like you open up the second channel, then quickly kill the bass on channel one at the same time you open up bass on channel two. Is that what you do?

I beat matched just looking at the visuals. Hey Nik, take it or leave it bro, I dont hate on anybody out there. All I can say is I know Im not a great DJ, I have a long way to go, but Im not afraid to show my stuff. I've only got 7 years experience, and I know that isnt alot when you compare me to alot of DJs out there. But hell look at some of the DJs out on this forum that show there videos and arent afraid, and people rape them about wrecking or scratching, ect. If it was a perfect mix bro, I wouldn't be in the Army I'd be opening for Paul Van Dyk... Until God gives me the skills to roll with PVD, Tiesto, Ect. I guess I'll keep my Day job flying helicopters for the Army, and keep pretending that I'm gonna get somewhere with DJing. Shit we all have to have dreams, otherwise why should we live and express ourselves through music.
Yes I am the guy with the Ortofon Tattoo. I have another DJ tattoo as well. I love my roots and where I grew up as a DJ and I express myself through my skin.
Sound, its taken off my little camra, if you want a recorded version and post edited effect added in I recorded it to my laptop and i'll throw that up on the site too.
DJ this,
Yeah I bring in a channel with the bass killed then flip the bass. Usually works well. I don't anyways do that. This is the first time I tried mixing without headphones. Thanks for the support DJThis!!
Peace

Nevoc your song selection was good i listen to that kind of stuff all the time. your mixing without headphones was decent you did a good job but you played it like you where at the club for a video of yourself you should of just quick mixed it through so ppl watching it wouldnt get bored. but it wasnt too bad. Keep up the good work man.

Yeah, Kid I dont listen to that type of music so I cant tell if its good or bad......., but I do applaud your courage. what you should do is leave a note how we can all learn how to post our videos. Cause I haven't seen any other videos on here besides everyone posting Jazzy Jeff, no videos of the top posters are 2000 posts club. I have only been on this board a couple of months and I dont post much because when ever you post something, you always get a smart ass answer or comment from alot of DJs with Digital Courage. Digital Courage is punks that hide behind screen names and make ass comments, but would get knocked out if they said it to your face. But anyway kid keep doing your thing, Do a vid of some Hip hop or classic house maybe I will be able to dig it more. Peace just my 2 cents

I was going to be a dick like nik39 and rag him (the music is not my fav)...but it takes balls to post vids and such, so I have to give him props for that, and having a dream and a vision/goal. More importantly, I have to give him props for being an Army helo pilot.
If you want to make the vid a little more exciting, I would have some hot naked chicks dancing in the back...make that the foreground.

No sweat bro, My cam hold like 28:30 mins of vid, I recorded like 29:05 today, and I guess it saved all to my memory stick and the rest to the 16mb internal memory, cause when I tried to save it would get to 99% then freeze the laptop. So I erased it and tried 5 mins ago to film on a half full battery and it shut off about 10 mins in.... I guess I'll have to try and film again tommorrow when the cam recharges.
BTW I'm taking requests for this one, if you have funkymixx I have 90-96 I think is the last one I got in the mail.
Peace

My camra is one of those 5.0 MP kodak camras that also takes digital video, so you just drag it off to the desktop. Unfortunatly for me because I dont own a MAC yet, and my camra takes video as a .mov file. I have to covert the video to WMV, then just put it into windows movie player and compress the format and add text then save it and upload it to my website and put the link on here.
so how did you get it off your camera and on the web?
I can try, but as I said I can only tape like 28 mins max of video, and we try to get alot of pics for my clubs website. But I'll try my best.

You should learn to cut with your left hand, it doesn't look very comfortable that way (and I can imagine some stuff will be real hard to do when you cut like that). Some hotter tracks would be nice too, and scratching over vocal parts will just cause a mess. And funkymix edits isn't all that fun. Thanks for sharing though :)
DJ Nevoc
12:21 AM - 27 April, 2006
Thanks for the tips bro! I just got the DJ Qbert DVD and my buddy gives me some tips hear and there. I just very recently got into hip hop... like Feburaryish... anyway I'll keep practicing and working on that left hand.
The only thing I wish is that I could switch out the fader in my mixer with one of those quick cutting faders. The Vestax PCV-275 is an AWSOME mixer, if your spinning just EDM, but the fader fades automattically. Thats why I level mix most of the time in the club.
Peace

DJ Nevoc> I'd stay away from any of those remixes, to me it sounds boring with pre-made scratches, added drum layers to the original track.
Promo Only Urban Club is a pretty nice series I'd say, all original tracks with instrumentals and some accapellas.

Good work, DJ Nevoc! I have an edge on you in trance mixing...but I have absolutely 0 skill in the turntablism/scratching/juggling field. ;)
Might I suggest mixing solely with the line faders...you half-do it already, so why not cut the middleman crossfader out of the question? If your Vestax is like my PMC-250 you can't "unassign" the channels to the crossfader, so I have two pieces of cardboard cut the same exact size fit into the slots on either side of the crossfader to lock it in the middle.

just do what primo does...put the 2turntables to 1 side and the mixer on the other. it works for him.

primo as in Guru's Dj? ... & i thought i was a freak (mixer to the left w/ 2 ttbls to the right)

I do that at the club normally just to keep from bumping elbows with the DJ to my right.

12:20 AM - 28 April, 2006
I have also had my 2 TTs on the right and the mixer on the left for years. I started doing that in 85 or 86 not because my left hand cant scratch. Its mainly fader control with the right for some strange reason. I am able to do basic things with a standard setup on my left hand but I figured I was always doing it for fun and because I loved it so who cares where the tables are. Its all about the music.
DJ_Mike_Coquilla
3:43 PM - 28 April, 2006
so is there an actual term for that (mixer on left with both tables to the right or vice versa)? When i spin with other DJ's, i get HELLA confused (cause they have standard mixer in center of tables)... my big flaw :(

Dude again I applaud the courage. Tips, dedication is key practice a minimum of 2 hrs a day everyday of the week. 1hr right hand scratching and 1hr left hand. I have not been able to use my Serato with vinyl yet becuase I am still in Kuwait so I use my CDJs over here. I have only had Serato less than a month and probably used it about 5 times altogether, but I think you rely on that keyboard and screen a little to much. Focus on the records and tables or try to equal out the two, if not you will be screwed if you had to DJ without Serato.
DJ Nevoc
11:58 AM - 29 April, 2006

Actually DJ Nevoc, I am in Kuwait so there is a BIG difference in TRAQ and KUWAIT. I am actually stationed here, so I have a Barracks room a kitchen and bathroom so its difffrent from living in a tent. A few DJs deployed here brought there stuff, but there is no where for them to set it up, unless the DJ at the MWR here on post. If you are coming to Kuwait, it is extra lovely here, I wish I could send you pics of the chics at the pool. But anyway its nothing absolutely nothing like they portray on TV <- saying that while finishing up some TGIF wings and a Baked Potatoe from Ruby Tuesdays. Pm me or shoot me an email if you wanna know more.
