Keyboard Shortcut Stickers - Download Here
ssl-wiki.help.bootlegs.de
These are the updated shortcuts for SSL 1.5 (currently in beta testing). Most of these will work with previous versions (except for features that did not exist, ie. looping and a few other changes that were made in the update).
For optimal printing conditions, download the .pdf from this page and print on Avery labels #5267 (if you can get them lined up correctly) or #8165 (if you don't mind manually cutting them)
I'm hoping these will allow the SSL community to take full advantage of all the features that SSL offers and help them to continue to push the DJ game further.
Holla back if you start/are using these ... i'm interested in hearing if these are helping you do more than you were doing before...

SloMo, I didnt follow how you could print them and use them on which sticker. I remember in the original thread there was something about clear-labels or something, or a printable foil. If you have the time, can you (or anybody else) add the info to the wiki? (wiki editing is really really simple! As easy as using a wordprocessor) Thanks... And yeah, good job you and those who contributed with suggestions+ideas :)

You can see it in the page history who did exactly what changes. If you feel uncomfortable, you can add your sig/name to that page with a link to your board profile.

Sure nik...
The stickers were originally designed to be printed on Avery mailing labels (#5267). The heighth of these labels are real close to the size of most keyboard keys, so I used those labels when I designed/printed the first set.
Unfortunately, all printers are different, so the placement of my original design, which printed perfectly on my printer, hasn't lined up as well for others that have tried printing with those same labels.
To avoid this problem altogether, Peeti-V suggested buying the full sheet Avery label (#8165) and manually cutting out the stickers. This is a little more manual work, but might save you some time and frustration if you are having trouble getting the pre-cut labels to line up correctly. If you know how to use a pair of scissors, I would recommend using the full-sheet label.

Any ideas?! Thanks folks!

Also, the cover seems like its adherered to the surface of the laptop with glue. I don't know if I like that idea. But overall its a nice thing. I figured I would go finding replacement keys for mine. That way I won't have any problems pressing keys with the cover on. It would suck if you tried to press one combination of buttons and all of the sudden something else happened because of the plastic cover. lol.
In fact, at this point I am just trying to MEMORIZE as many shortcuts as possible. I don't even want to put stuff on the keys. Wish me luck with the whole "memorization" thing... lol

Here's a pic from my notebook with the double sided tape stickers. After a couple of days playing a couple seem to be coming off. The tape sticks well to the keys but the paper doesn't. So now I am on a hunt for a kind of paper that will stick better. :)
The tape is very nice. I tried removing it and it left no residue, it was super easy to remove and it did not damage the silk-screened letter on the key.
FYI.

Hey people! I am finally working on my own design for keyboard stickers. I have seen lots of good designs and other ideas that I have had so I am working on a NEW design for my Alienware.
The double sided tape seems to work fairly well for me so I am sticking with it for now. It has helped me figure out what colors look better in the dark and what kinds of things your eye is drawn to when working in a sweaty club, in a dark environment and with a bunch of drunk idiots bumping against your TT's... lol
Let me know if there is anything that you would like to see in the final design, I will try to adapt it.
Your ideas are appreciated!
PS: Sample of the current unfinished design coming soon.

When you print them, make sure you print them at 100% scale or else the buttons may come out at a different size - NO GOOD.
PRINTING:
Be sure to use your printer's BEST QUALITY setting to get as much crispness out of the edges, etc. Trust me, it makes a difference... specially with the smaller text. If your printer has a "smoothing" feature (normally used for photos), try turning it OFF. I got much better results this way.
APPLYING THEM:
Once you got them printed cut them out carefully and use scotch double-sided tape to glue them on. In order for the adhesive to hold better try not to touch the back of the page too much and make sure to clean the keys carefully with a moist rag (Turn off the laptop when you do all this).
The double-sided tape can be applied to the back of the sheet in long, even stripes that cover the full area you are going to cut. This allows you to simply cut each key and apply to the laptop inmediately after you cut it (just be careful not to touch the adhesive too much).
THE PAPER:
I have gotten better results with high "coated papers". Not necessarily a photo paper, but just a nice glossy finish. This type of material seems to help the adhesive stick on longer. Brighter papers (98 Brightness or more) look better than the cheaper papers, FYI.
Good luck!
PS: Glad you guys dig them, I put a lot of time and love into them. I'll put up a pic of how they look on the laptop soon.

Nice work Bis, I might have one request though if I may:
Can you do the same layout for us european users who have AZERTY keyboards instead of QWERTY ? that would make our life so much easier.

Just posted some pictures of my lappy with them on. They feel very solid when printed on Laser with high quality paper. The tape I am using is "Scotch Removable Double Coated Tape".
Strong enough for the application, yet easy on the key's silkscreened letters.
UK Keyboard sets coming soon.

Alright, I think this is the final version:Red & Blue (Original) www.djbis.com
If you don't mind getting away from red, these should do the job even better! Out of 3 different sets/colors these two were by far the best looking and easiest to work with in the dark.

I DEFINITELY want it, but I'm in the UK and using an Acer Laptop.
Any plans to do anything else but Macs? and if so, timescales would be real handy cos I'm gonna be working with SSL to help teach some DJ skills and it would be VERY useful.
I might know a few others in the UK who would be interested in buying this too.

At the moment Mac's are the only thing i got going at the moment i would love to work on pc's and anyone who is willing to work with me im more than to talk about it with them! The main problem i come across it that there are to many windows os machines out the. Now if we can come up with a couple of machines that are commonly used that would be great then we can work from there.

Hey fellaz, just wanted to bump this thread by letting yall know that I am working some magic with double sided Scoth Tape! Yes indeed, lol, scotch tape works real well. Just print the buttons on normal white paper and go to town with the tape in the back.I am using Scotch brand "Removable Double Coated Tape". It sticks solid yet it does not seem to be the kind that will peal the key's number a year from now when the keyboard shortcuts are changed... :P

I didnt realize it was an overlay. I just saw the one facebook pic. And BIS I like your design, but I'd rather not use double sided tape. I just need to find a high quality sticker paper that i print with my laser jet....until deejaychoice gets the PC version done. :)

Get some nice laser printer paper and go to town with it. I have had mine on there for months and months... sometimes a cue point sticker might come loose. But I just re-align it and its back to work with no problems. And that happens maybe ones every 3 weeks.
The key is to not touch the materials a lot. Clean your hands when you are cutting, applying, etc.
Hope this helps.

Hey BIS I love the labels you did! Here is just a thought for your design....
You have the letters for the keys (a,s,d,f....) printed on the labels and the ones from the actual keys show through the label. So why not leave out putting the letters on the labels and move the shortcuts to the bottom portion of the label so you can see the original letters on the keys? just tho
