Hi all. I have about 6000 ogg files that I ripped from my CDs coupla years ago. I have noticed that when I recreate the Serato db (big upgrade, deleting serato db, etc.) that Serato rebuilds the OGG overviews when I import the tracks. It does NOT rebuild the MP3 overviews when I import them.

repro?
Wiwndow vista
serato e.g. 1.8.3

1. import and create a library of OGG and MP3 files. Build overviews on all.
2. exit serato
3. delete the serato db's to start fresh
4. start serato
5. import all the MP3 and OGG files
6. click build overviews

result:
The OGG files will have their overviews rebuilt. Serato doesn't rebuild MP3 overviews.

expected:
No overviews to be rebuilt

If you click the rescan ID3 tags button (within the setup screen Library tab) and then click build overviews, does SSL remember the overview status of the OGG files?

Hey Dale;)

Do your OGG files still have a waveform when you load them onto a virtual deck?
If so, then the overview is built on the file.

Know that the overview builder is very finicky.

I suggest rescanning your id3 tags prior to clicking the build overviews tab.
This will remind SSL of what files have had their overviews built and which ones haven't. At that point it will only build overviews for files that haven't currently had their overviews built.

Hi zach and shaun.

zach, if I load the OGGs (I tried 20 random ones) into a virtual deck, it DOES immediately show the waveform. It doesn't build them on the fly.

Unfortunately, pressing rescan ID3 tags does nothing good for this scenario. I just clicked it and rescaned the whole db. Then when I pressed build overviews, it started chewing on about 6000 files.

By chance, are the 6000 tracks SSL wants to overview again all OGG files?
Dale 11:33 PM - 8 January, 2009
of course. that's how I discovered the link between the ogg files and the # being rebuilt.

I'm going to flag this thread for further assistance.

I'm curious to know if our databaseV2 file is properly storing OGG tag status information (doesn't sound like it).

Hold tight and I'll get the Serato guys to check things out under the hood :)

Please upload your databaseV2 file so we can take a look at what's going on. The upload page can be found here -->> scratchlive.net

coolio. Its not anything like a P1. I just have to let the builder run for awhile to process them again.

sorry, the databaseV2 file is found within the ScratchLIVE folder in your My Music folder and, if using an external drive, within the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external.

Hey Dale,

I can reproduce your issue using the steps you provided, so I've raised the issue with our Dev team. You should be ok once you've rebuilt your overviews again as long as you don't delete the database V2 file again - is this something you do regularly?

I tend to delete when I move my library to a new relative directory which I did last week and it raised this issue.
