update:
got it working, but still some bugs
these are happening randomly with the latest beta
1) when it starts, it has the audio problem (quiet). can fix with restart of program most the time.
2) when playing, the auto-loop button stops working, flashes but does not stick, button will start working after a few more minutes of play
3) when playing, the waveforms disappear from itch, restart is required to get them back

Hi entelarust, when you're running the ITCH 1.0.4 public beta, can you confirm the ITCH version number in the bottom left hand corner of the setup screen? Thanks

Can you please give me a few more specs for your computer? i.e. processor, memory etc. You can find this info in the About This Mac section of the Apple menu.
Also, have you tried powering the VCI from other USB ports on your computer? Thanks

Macbook Pro
2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Yes, i have tried both usb ports
problems 1 thru 3 have not happened recently, but there are two reoccurring problems i have noticed during some long sets i have done.
4) twice during a longer set, the track playing on the mains would randomly reset as if i reloaded the track, stopping the music
5) sometimes the platers will randomly switch from scratch mode to scrolling through the tracks as if the scroll button was enabled. but the scroll button is not pressed and not on. the only way to get back to scratch mode is to turn on (light on) then turn off the scroll button

It sounds as if you may be encountering some sort of interference - firstly I'd only use the left usb port on your macbook as this is the most stable. Also, are you powering off USB or using mains power?
One other thing I'd suggest is adjusting the touch sensitivity of the platters at the back of the unit.
Let me know how you get on. Cheers
