Don't worry my friend. A USB buffer size of 2 should treat you just fine. Are you experiencing some sort of problem due to that?

Any aother problem, but Iam a turntablist and 1ms sounds much better to me.Secondary, all of my friends run 1ms on cheaper computers. Maybe the higher RPM hard driwe can solve this??....what do you think about it??? THX

Hi there,

The way SSL works on Pc's vs Mac is slightly different. A buffer size of 2 on a Mac is the limit for everyone running a Mac.

Technically speaking, Mac OSX can't supply packet timing information at a resolution Scratch Live needs for a 1ms buffer.

Your friends are probably on PC right? Windows machines can run at a buffer size of 1.

to be honest i use a dell laptop and run it at 1 buffer all the time.and im happy with the latency scratching.

but i tried one of my friends macbook with the buffer set to 2 and the mac was a lot tighter.scratches sounded more precise.

every laptop is gonna react different at the lowest buffer especially comparing a mac to a pc.

im not a mac or a pc basher.i prefer a pc becuase i feel you get more bang for the buck using a pc compared to the prices of a mac.you dont need a $1,500 laptop to run just serato (without video).

your gonna get a little delay but if your a true scratch dj you will be able to adjust to serato.im not trying to call you out at all.but scratching on my pc with the lowest settings is very close to real vinyl.and using a mac is even closer to real vinyl.

a lot of people say why does a mac go to 2 buffer and a pc 1.

those numbers are deceiving.i can guarantee you that a macbook or a macbook pro set at 2 will always be tighter then a pc set at 1.

its all in the parts.pcs have parts from all different companies installed.thats why you need drivers to run everything.this causes more latency in a pc.

a mac has parts made from apple.and they found a better way to have them inter connect with each other to run more smoothly.this allows more processing power and a more powerful computer.

even though mac computers are nice i still would not trade my dell for one.but in the future i will purchase one for a backup.

i hope this helps you understand that you will be happy with your latency set at 2.
