"Pioneer Debuts 400 GB Disc"
Technology if left to freely expand will grow at an exponential rate. No surprise here.

Simply amazing.

"...the technology to use the disc is already available to consumers, as the super-multi layer disc can be read on current Blu-ray players, thanks to the specs of the pick-up head (PUH) of the Pioneer disc being the same as the PUH of standard blank BD discs."
Wowzers, I didn't see that coming!

Being able to back-up my music and video collection on a dozen or so disc would be AWESOME!, I HATE and I mean HATE dealing with hard drives. Never know when they are gonna fail but I have CD's in my closet from the early 90's that still play perfect.

Yeah but imagine how many gigs a single scratch would wipe out on a disc like this.

Yes but at the same time with only needing a few disc you can easily make multiple back-ups of your music. Of course this is all in the future and by the time these are even commercially available I would imagine the burn times wouldn't be that long. I don't know but it's nice to dream especially when stuff like this is being prototyped.
