I've noticed on a lot of bass heavy songs after i added it to SSL and play it the bass has pops and cracks in it like its been distorted. U can even see where it's distorted by looking at the wave. Also this is mainly on parts where there is only bass, nothing else playing over it.

if i play the song in say iTunes it sounds fine. I have the pitch set to 0 and the volume is not up too loud.
i'm using 1200mk2's, Rane 57 and 2008 MacBook Pro

any ideas???

If your hearing pops and clicks it might be due to your setup not being calibrated properly.

First.. check out this video Konix created on setting the threshold --> www.youtube.com.

Also.. do you have the keylock option turned on in SSL?
Where does the LED meter jump to when you play the files on the virtual deck?

Does it distort when playing it in the offline player?

My setup is properly calibrated. The sound Konix is describing is totally different.

I do have the keylock turned on, even when it's off it still sounds distorted, the LED meter jumps to the green range, and it also sounds distorted on the offline player (you can see it in the wave form).

here is a sample of what i'm talking about...

I don't hear any distortion in the file but I can hear a bit of an oscillated sound.
Like there is an LFO on the bass.

I've only ever heard of a complaint about this when using the keylock feature.
Are you sure it sounds the same with keylock turned off?

Yes. Like i said, you can see it in the wave form when you play it. It seems as if something might have gone wrong while building the overviews...

It only does this for some songs, so do you think maybe the files are corrupted even though it's not listed?

As far as I know, SSL doesn't change the audio of a file at all.
Building overviews just analyzes the existing wave form. It doesn't change it.

Can you see this change in a different audio editor?
ie load the original file and look at the wave form.
Then load the file that has had its overview built and see if you see any difference in the wave form.

Have you tried to revert back to a previous version of SSL to see if it might be version related?

Hi Zach. I'm having the same issue and only hear this LFO effect on the bass of my songs. But it only seems to occur after 2 or more hours of operation. I turned the key lock on and off and the bass still sounded the same. I had to close the application then reopen, and the same song was fine. Have you heard of this? BTW, I disconnected the SL1 box to build overviews for 2 songs I added, then reconnected it. I noticed the problem after doing this. Im running 1.8.2 on a MacBook Pro Penryn 2.5 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo/ 2GB Ram/running OSX 10.5.5.

Also, I know that others have been having auto gain issues with this version of serato scratch, its really annoying. It seems to perform auto gain for some songs and not for others. Do you know if 1.8.3 beta fixes this issue?

Thanks
