Make no mistake- Posey is no spring chicken. The Hornets gave him his 3-year deal for THIS YEAR. If he can contribute at the same level 2 years from now, it will be a miracle. But even with him, the Hornets are still a young team- not something you can say about the Celtics.

Aside from the Big 3...they are a pretty young team...there starting PG is early 20's, Big Baby is young and will be alot more of a factor this year, Perkins is still fairly young as well...
I think we will certainly be a top the East again...as long as theres no injuries to P, G, or R.

As much as I liked Chauncey and McDyess, this was a smart move for the Pistons.
Plus, Denver will probably just buy out McDyess or just strait up release him and he'll probably be back in Detroit in 30 days. A quote from another board...

the more i think about it, the more i like this deal. whether or not they get mcdyess back, that they'll be free of contractual obligations to chauncey, who was signed for three years beyond '08-9 for a total nut of around $50M, is huge. it's accepted that stuckey is just about ready to take over at the point, so if they didn't deal billups now, they'd be left with a $10+M/year backup until 2012.Iverson's and Rasheed's contracts are up at the end of the year, freeing up ~$35M in salary cap for the Pistons. I'm more excited for next season for the Pistons.

Say whatever else you want about Iverson, but you have to admit he has the heart of a champion. Nobody competes harder when they're surrounded by a real team. Niether 'Sheed nor Maxeil is really a center and neither Iverson or Stuckey is a true point guard, but it doesn't matter. They'd just have too much talent. Detriot's top 6 (A.I., Rip, Stuckey, 'Sheed, Prince & Maxiel) can now match anybody's talent-wise. The Nuggets are crazy to do this deal when McDyess (trusting Konix' spelling :) would rather retire than play there. Konix is right, too: they probably get Mcdyess back cheap before long anyway.

Detroit is still the same team with iverson instead of billups. Plus, if AI leaves theyll have some cap space. Rasheed is in the last year of his deal too. So Detroit making one more run at a chip. The easiest way for him to accompolish that is to be with a high profile team WITH a high media market and a team that is globally popular (with Asia). That's going to be the Lakers especially when he can produce/make movies/commericals/tv shows.
Unless Kobe bails out on LA, Lebron is not coming to LA, however.

Lakers are 4-0 on the road. Passes a big test tonight. The second of a back to back is tough. It seems like the Lakers are always getting to the loose balls before everyone else. I think the key to the season so far has been the D. Were allowing 86 points a game (1st or 2nd) and were leading the L in scoring. Thats a DEADLY combo!

The game itself was offensive much more then defensive...Even though the Celts came out with a win, I am sure they werent pleased with their defensive effort...They have a hard time with Joe Johnson for some reason. If they can figure out a way to contain him like they do with Lebron the next game will be a cake walk...
The 6 teams the Hawks have played thus far are all shit...The only team that is relatively good that they beat are the Hornets..and they arent showing the same level of talent as they did last year so far this season.
They made it a good game last night, but I attribute it to the lack of Defense on the Celtics part. nothing else. lol

The Opponents points per game in the Celtics 9 games is an avg of 88...
Thats 14 less then the Hawks put up
only reason = BAD Defense :)

Marc Stein is east coast bias. Marc Stein probably wrote that before the Laker game finished. The Celtics barely got by the Hawks WITHOUT Joe Smith in the hawk lineup. I think the celts need to worry about that!
Lakers are only allowing 86 pts a game. And no team has scored 100 points on em.
Now thats defense.

If Lakers stay relatively healthy with no major injuries, there is no way Hornets are going to beat the Lakers. Charles Barkley stated LAST year..."It doesn't look good for the rest of the NBA for the next 5 years" referring to how the Lakers are going to contend in the future.
With Ariza and Bynum back, Lakers look like a total different team. For all those who don't live in LA and can't watch all their games, the stat sheet for Bynum and Ariza are very misleading. Stat sheets don't show how many times Bynum alters people's shots and causes them to brick or get scared and not shoot. Stat Sheets are misleading since they don't glorify lock down defense such as Ariza's (plus his hustle and diving for loose balls etc).
Lakers pretty much have everything covered: Triple towers (gasol, bynum, odom/ramana), the best player in the world, speed (ariza, farmar, kobe), shooting (sasha, ramana, kobe), lock down defenders (kobe, ariza), deepest bench in the league and the list goes on.....
Pretty much the only way the Lakers are going to lose if they suffer some major injuries or if the Lakers beat themselves....
(sorry for the fanboy post), I'm actually a bigger Rockets fan LOL

no way, not for 30 million. Maybe for 75-100 million.
Kobe is making $21 million this year. $9 is not enough to make him pack up and move overseas.
There was an article saying Jerry Buss is not worried about Kobe moving overseas.
1) Smaller Arenas
2) A lot less games
3) Smaller crowds, less coverage than NBA
4) NBA is the premier league with the best athletes in the world
Don't forget all the endorsements he'll lose (although he might gain some in Europe).

But you gotta look at the other prospective...
He's already won won titles, already been MVP, already won scoring titles...
he's done everything he could have possibly ever wanted to do in the NBA...
If the Lakers dont win this year, I can see it happening.

I can see it happening AFTER he retires from the NBA. Like when he's 40.
Even if Lakers ultimately meltdown in the Finals again, Kobe wouldn't walk away with the Lakers having such a young talented team with a ton of potential. If he did, it would ruin his legacy because he will be hated on by EVERYONE.
but then again, this is Kobe, you never know what he's thinking. LOL

It's early in his career but I'm calling it...Derrick Rose will be the premier PG in two years, even over CP3. He's a quicker, stronger, and more athletic version of CP3. He may not dish out as many assists as CP3, but that's partly because he doesn't have scorers surrounding him (streaky BG is about it). He also may not make players around him better like CP3, but from a pure scoring, one-on-one standpoint no one will be able to stop him if he develops a consistent jumper.

Yeah Derrick Rose is a beast. Might be faster than AI. CP3 def has a better supporting cast the rose. He was going by fisher and farmar last night like they were not even there. I hope he doesnt turn into a shoot first point like AI is. It would be better for his career if he has an all around game.

lakers looked horrible last night. their defense stunk. they left so many pacers wide open behind the 3 point line. they couldn't rebound. they only time they looked good was towards the end of the 3rd qtr when ariza made all those steals.
hopefully we'll win tonight.

I only caught the end of the 3rd and 4th quarter. lakers got lazy and too relaxed. They made about 4 or 5 turnovers in a row! That pretty much lost the game for the Lakers right there after they were up by 16 points at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The players themselves seem to be kinda cool, I just did a mixtape with Joe Smith, But these dudes have only won 2 games so far. The franchise is under a lil bit of pressure already what with OU on the verge of playing for a National Championship in college football. The Thunder have already fired Pj Carlesimo and so the drama begins...GO..ummm...Thunder
