So I read another discussion about this and followed the directions to fix it and still no luck. Im using a macbook pro with the latest versions of everything. I have 14000 tracks all on my internal harddrive. Not using an external drive.

Hi Danny-Boi,

Can you let us know what version of Scratch LIVE, what OS, and what iTunes version are you using?
Danny-Boi 6:21 PM - 13 October, 2008
ssl 1.8.2
Mac os x 10.5

Im wondering if it's a problem with the new version of Itunes that I have downloaded. The so called "Genius" Hmmmmn.

Try this:

Close SSL

Open your Macintosh HD

Open your user Music folder

Open the ScratchLIVE folder

Rename the DatabaseV2 file to olddatabaseV2

Restart SSL

Is the load time still the same?

What up Shaun? I'm Steve Spears friend. I remember when you got this job. My roomate Dave tried for it too. Im glad to see that you are still there. Good 4 u.

Hey so yeah I renamed the file databasev2.1 and It still is hella slow. I kinda dont wanna rename it again cuz it made build overviews on all the tracks again. 14 thou takes a long time and heats my laptop up like fire... I can live with the issue but it still sucks. Would renaming it olddatabasev2 make any difference?

Thx for the prompt reply

ps. send me a friend request if ya have a myspace

Wow, it certainly is a small world. I haven't seen Steve in forever. Hope all is well with you, Steve and his girl :)

Renaming the old databaseV2 file won't have any affect.

Before clicking build overviews, click the Rescan ID3 tag option first and let SSL rescan your library. This will update your databaseV2 file with which tracks have an overview and which tracks do not.

Try rebuilding the iTunes xml file

Here's how:

Close SSL

Close iTunes

Open your Macintosh HD

Open your user Music folder

Open the iTunes folder and move the iTunes Music Library.xml file to your desktop

Open iTunes play a song

Close iTunes

Open ScratchLIVE

Any difference?

Nope No difference. It seems that SSL is reading the itunes or something because when i try to do other things on the laptop while its trying to import the itunes it runs really slow like is working really hard.

You may need to create a new iTunes library.

I sent you an email detailing how to create a new library and import your old playlists and etc.

Let me know how it goes.
Danny-Boi 2:11 AM - 21 October, 2008
Shaun no luck. :(.... Should i erase the old itunes folder now? I also went back and checekd the box in prefrences back to copy files to itunes music folder when adding to library. Should i leave that unchecked? I changed it after opening up ssl and saw that it still took 10 mins to load.

I also noticed that i have no music in my new folder. Should there be?

My old folder only had 5000 songs in there and i have over 14000 in my itunes. I never figured out a way to get my whole library into that old folder. Wish i could cuz its easier to load into an external thru that folder. Maybe something is wrong there.

thx for all the help bro

I suggest keeping all of your iTunes folder. There's really no need to delete anything.

iTunes has a feature you can use to consolidate your music and move it to another location -->> support.apple.com
Danny-Boi 6:41 PM - 21 October, 2008
Yeah I tried that last night and it says my hd doesn't have enough space to copy.

I've done this in the past but once I do that I dont know where it ends up. In the vortex somewhere lol.... I'll read the support link n see what they have to say

OMG! I tried erasing my music folder thinking it would be ok cuz my music folder only had 5000 files in it and my itunes had 14000 i it and it erased almost all of it. I wanna cry. no i didnt have it backed up. I have a huge party on Halloween to dj too. I wanna shoot myself. Fuck Fuck Fuck!

on the bright side my itunes loads right up now in ssl.

I guess i still have my vinyl

Super shitty :(

Glad to hear everything is opening better :)
Danny-Boi 6:17 PM - 23 October, 2008
Well now its back to loading slow again. I stoped the deleting process about 75% of the way through cuz I had a bad felling. It put the rest of the files back into the trash. When I noticed that I had an exclamtion points next to almost all my songs in my itunes i started up SSL and it opened itunes hella fast. After I put those leftover files that were in the trash back into itunes, the Itunes loaded slow again. Now I know its something in that music folder that I deleted that is making it take forever to load in SSL. Ive been in the mac forums chating with folks about what to do as well as here. Hopefully I'll solve this problem soon. Thx for your time
