this just started happening in the last 2-3 months.
i open serato and everything comes up blank in terms of file info. and along the bottom it says 'reading tags' and does this for EVERY track. it takes about 8-10 minutes, then all the info is there... but it causes my computer to lag and have usb drop outs if i play a song while its doing that.

again it just started happening randomly. i went through and cleaned up, and got it down to about 6 crates. a good 30,000 songs though with one crate being 95% of that. i built overviews on them all which took a few days. same problem. if i open it up, scans all the tags. if i close it, then reopen it 5 seconds later...scans all the tags again.
i dont want to update the version yet becuase i have a wedding tomorrow and id rather update after that becuase at least it works for now, just a frustration.

important note: last time i djed with my friend, when plugging my harddrive into his computer it did the same thing. it read every file, yet it did not do that with his songs.

windows xp sp2
scratch live 1.8.0
external harddrive - western digital mybook 500g.
not using itunes.

ok i have had this happen when SSL has crashed and the data had not been written to the drives. When you end a gig or unplug the external do you let ssl shutdown completly or just unplug?

the way i got around this was to open ssl at home do some folder maintenance and then shut down ssl. Leave it until the desktop reappears, shut down the pc and then unplug the drive. This solves the problem on my system.

a Note on your external i have found that those drives tend to go to sleep often, and i used MDIS to fix that issue

It sounds like your databaseV2 file within the .ScratchLIVE folder of your external is damaged.

When possible, please update to the 1.8.2 version of Scratch LIVE and let me know if it helps resolve your problem.

1.8.2 download -->> www.scratchlive.net

ok great. i plan on upping to 1.8.2 when i get home from work today.

and yes, i always shut down ssl properly, then eject my harddrive, then shut down windows then close the computer.

thanks

OK, you'll need to rename the DatabaseV2 file located within the _ScratchLIVE_ folder on your external hard drive.

Do this:

Close SSL

Open your external drive

Open the _ScratchLIVE_ folder

Rename the DatabaseV2 file to olddatabaseV2

Restart SSL

Scratch LIVE will read your tags and rebuild the databaseV2 file. Once SSL is done, close it out and restart. Scratch LIVE should open properly :)

Please upload the databaseV2 file following the instructions here -->> Sending bad files to Serato support -->> www.scratchlive.net

After it's uploaded, delete away :)
